1) if you play against Cthulhu, try to lose your sanity less during the clashes at the beginning of the game.
2) if you play against Hastur, try to lose less physical health during encounters with enemies.
3) try to match the characters to the goals of the scenario.
my recommendation is 1 character with a melee attack and the second with a long-range one
ideally, Rasputin and The Child

The Child = The Kid in my version.

This is unnecessary imo, I found it pretty easy to beat every scenario with random investigators (two player).

LOL, I wouldn't be surprised, but that's a little more 'glass half empty' than I'm feeling right now.

Half a Glass

You have likely heard about the argument between the optimist and the pessimist as to whether the glass is half full or half empty. I am an Aerospace Engineer/Scientist, and I have the other half of my water in my Backup/Redundancy Glass, cooling off on the very top shelf of the fridge!

I really liked physics for a while in my undergrad, as a math major I loved that
Physics is the science where it takes long, complicated equations to explain why round balls roll.

Same thought, we need a standalone Chuck. He'd have an attack card equivalent to Medusa's "Gaze of Stone," that reads, "I don't step on toes, I step on necks."

Sorry for the extremely late reply but I just found this forum. If you ever run a tourney or just want to play, I have 3-6 people who would be interested. We’re in the Newmarket/Toronto area.

My GF and I most often play this one with each of us controlling two investigators. Feels like it lets us cover more of the map with the penalty being advancing the Elder One faster.

You might give that a go... Balancing the talents is also useful. We'll often choose one investigator ourselves then randomly assign the second. Has made for some interesting games and has resulted in both of us having to think outside our core strengths (she's more tactical, I'm more "Hulk SMASH") to win a scenario.

Regardless of the investigators, Elder One or Scenario we've chosen to play Cthulhu Death May Die rarely disappoints - keeping us on the edge of our seat to the very last turn, never being quite certain whether we're going to win or lose.

I hope that after you've had a few more games under your belt and maybe a long talk with your basic dice that you'll find your rhythm and capture this same sense of enjoyment!

Is there a Thunder Road, moonshine-running game that is solo? And I mean dedicated solo.

This has been a really helpful review OP, it definitely helped tamper down that feeling I had that I really needed to get this box right away.

Hasbro hosts a B&N photocopy on their site, you can just Google it. The pictures are impossible to parse, but the rules are readable, and you can see lots of pictures of initial setup in the Images section or just online,

Chuck Norris versus the Grim Reaper. That would be a fun expansion.

As a fellow math major, don’t forget how difficult it was to find out what is the inside and what is the outside of said ball…

Not sure what a moonshine-running game is, but you might want to look at wreckland run. Wreckland Run

Thanks. I know Wreckland Run. I didn't get it because I think its mechanics are too similar to Warp's Edge which I already have.

BTW, Moonshine-running is not a board game term nor mechanic. I just used moonshine-running to indicate the type of game/mechanic I was looking for because Thunder Road is originally from a 1958 movie in which the whole point was running moonshine (illegal whiskey) in souped-up cars that made it easier to evade cops and gangsters. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thunder_Road_(1958_film)

I own both and I don't think they are very similiar, they play pretty differently. Bust TBO Warp's Edge is a much better game...

Thank you! Also, Wreckland Run does not really feel like you are racing along a track, your board always stays in the middle and the bad guy's cars circle around you.
