Do what you like, but in fairness how many turns do games go after a player is completely eliminated and the finish line pops up?↧

At home, it's often 2 rounds, or 10-15 minutes. At home, we rarely go after a single player to the point of total elimination for free, so the damage is fairly evenly distributed between the different players, and when one is eliminated, the others are often not far from elimination either, so the end of the game comes quickly.
Here, a player in control of a helicopter with nothing to defend would be a real kingmaker.
But everyone is free to play, and we all have different groups of players.

I know it's not politically correct and would likely be an IP nightmare that would never happen, but I'd love to see an 80's-90's action hero set. Rambo, Commando, Norris, Terminator, Robocop.... Or maybe a TV Show set with characters like Cagney and Lacey, Magnum P.I., The A-Team, ....↧

Wednesday Wonderings: New Games to Play
Since Wednesdays are usually a bit more freeform than my other posts, I thought that I'd just pontificate a bit about some of the games that have come across my journey here on BGG. There's so much out there to play and while I don't necessarily have the opportunity or option to play most of what pops up here on BGG, I know that there's quite a few that I would like to try.
Credit to punkin312 for the picture. First and foremost, we have Terraforming Mars which has been on my "to play" list for about three to four years now. I have some friends who own the game and have played almost every single week with one another and they keep wanting to play with me, but we've never been able to carve out the time to play it. We are planning on playing Terraforming Mars: Ares Expedition in a few weekends, but I have a feeling that I'll want to play the original game after playing the "prequel." We are also planning on playing Clever 4Ever too so that will be a nice change of pace too as I've never played any of the That's Pretty Clever! series.
Thanks rascozion for the great overview. I've also wanted to try Dorfromantik: The Board Game since I've been playing Dorfromantik quite a bit on my Switch. It's a really relaxing and relaxed video game and from what I've heard from my friend who owns the game, it's just as relaxing on the table as it is on the screen, so I'm really excited to try it out for myself. There's also the expansion for the game, Dorfromantik: The Duel, which adds a competitive version to the game, but I'm a bit less excited about it since the game was originally built with cooperative play in mind. I just love the idea of having a sprawling German countryside on my table and this looks like the perfect game to just wind down after a long, hard day.
I also have kickstarted the Thunder Road: Vendetta – Maximum Chrome edition as well as the new expansion, Thunder Road: Vendetta – Carnival of Chaos which should be arriving sometime in November of this year if everything remains on track. I know that Restoration Games is fairly good at fulfilling their timelines so barring any crazy worldwide pandemics (which has happened), I expect to get it this year. Not only am I excited to have new boards to play on (with the Thunder Road: Vendetta – Carnage at Devil's Run expansion included), but the arena being added as an alternative layout is extremely fun to me and really taps into the "car combat" nostalgia that hearkens back to when I was a kid and playing Vigilante 8: 2nd Offense in my friend's basement. I'm really excited about it and cannot wait to yell "WITNESS ME!" when the time comes for it's arrival. I also hope that I can sell my base version of the game when the Maximum Chrome edition arrives since it's the original Kickstarter version from 2023 and I won't need two copies of the game.
I like digital versions, but it's missing that physical touch. I'm also really getting into Dead Cells: The Rogue-Lite Board Game, especially after my previous post about deck-building adventures. There's a digital version on Tabletopia (which I noted in my previous post and have screenshotted here) but the implementation leaves a bit to be desired, especially since I cannot save my progress from game to game, which is a big aspect of the game. I'm really excited about getting this onto the table, especially after playing it some more recently and I cannot wait to see what chaos and fun that it will add to my collection when it arrives. It's still slated for arrival in October, but that can't come soon enough.
Recently, my buddy Anthony's son 3-D printed an insert for Clank!: A Deck-Building Adventure for me and it looks absolutely fantastic. Even with two of the expansions, it fits great, and still leaves room for additional boards to be added to the box. I still have two more expansions to add (Clank!: Sunken Treasures and Clank!: The Mummy's Curse) but I think that I'll probably end up getting Clank!: Catacombs first before getting another expansion for my base version of Clank! I actually did see both Catacombs and Clank! Legacy: Acquisitions Incorporated at a local board game shop on Thursday last week, but managed to hold off on purchasing them, since they also had a copy of Heat: Pedal to the Metal for purchase too. I love this hobby, but man the up front costs are expensive.
I recently downloaded and started tracking my plays of games through the Board Game Stats app, which also features some excellent integration with BGG and allows me to start tracking costs per play of my games if I enter in a price point for what I paid for them. My lowest overall cost per play is Magic Maze at $.88 per play and my most expensive game per play (right now) is Everdell: The Complete Collection but that's only because the game itself was about $240 not including the extras that I purchased for it. It's really fun for me to be able to see exact time spent on playing games as well as how many games per day that I've been playing as well as when and where I play those games. It really makes my stats brain super happy and has been a fun addition to my normal logging.
There are a lot more games that I'm interested in trying out, but I've rambled for a bit longer than I meant to with this post and I'll end it here. It's a bit of a different post this week, but I actually liked being able to just ramble a bit without having a plan. Thanks for reading and I'll be back on Friday with a few more reviews for games in my collection!

I appreciate all interactions and will respond to everything that I can. If you really liked the post and want more ramblings, feel free to subscribe and get new posts every Monday/Wednesday/Friday.

Here is a typical starship placard that would act as a faction. It gives a repeating unique reward each year once conquered and a boost to deployment numbers. I made 8 of these, they are all specific to a commander. I've had 4 on earth, 4 on space, however I can keep this one in space and use the 4 on earth, that way people wouldnt need to reprint any maps outside the north / south poles. This placard would be unlocked by a trigger card. also shown. I'll have to modulate the starship costs since with 2 maps, everyone gets double the amount of energy in base game so all cards cost a lot more than they will in a base game expansion.

It's something that came up in discussions of "Galactic Risk" actually. If you have, Earth, Mars, AND Jupiter's moons as the terrain you're fighting over... and you get ONE troop maneuver at end of turn... Well, it's weird to be able to relocate troops all the way from Earth to reinforce IO.... and so on....↧

As others have said, regions should already have been added. If you look at the back of your Vault box, the number of train pieces you start with increases as you add regions to the board.

well, if you have territory bonuses in the base game... and that's relatively easy compared to normal Risk.... then yeah you get nice energy gains. this is part of why Space and Water are important in 2210. EASY (relatively) continent bonuses. It's like having 12 Australias... while making Australia easier to attack. So many small continents it's hard to NOT have one.↧

Strictly thinking a real "C&F2" -- i.e., Victorian/Edwardian UK setting with public domain literary characters with narrative-related mechanics -- I'd go with: Oliver Twist, Phileas Fogg, Dorian Grey, and Ebeneezer Scrooge.A "C&F: The City of Light" set could be the Phantom of the Opera, Arsene Lupin, Fantomas, and, uh [thinks for a bit], Edmond Dantès (the Count of Monte Cristo). (I'm not really satisfied with the selection of French literary characters (i) created during that time period (ii) whose stories take place contemporaneously rather than in the past (e.g., Quasimodo), (iii) fit the gothic theme of C&F (so no Madame Bovary or other romantic-type characters), and (iv) would be moderately recognizable to American game buyers.

Sorry but I didn't understand one thing about controlling a convoy route, if at the end of the combat round there remains a destroyer (attacking) and a defender's submarine (submerged) who controls the convoy's route?↧

Thank you all for the thoughtout replies.Yeah, even though we got wiped by Stage I....don't get me wrong. I love the game, and we will continue to keep playing.
After we lost, it did give me chnace to think about the scenario a bit more in depth, and I'll concur...it seems like getting someone with Arcane Mastery is a boon here, and we'll need to make wiser choices. We played with Ian and Elizabeth. But even with Ian, I rolled so many misses/blanks in general, it became a comedy in and of itself, and with Ian's pyromaniac threat kept firing off, we constantly were also rolling against ourselves for fire damage as we left rooms.

Thread: Unmatched: Slings & Arrows:: Rules:: Two questions about Shakespeare's Horror card
by saslett
Shakespeare's Horror card says:DURING COMBAT: Increase the value of the card by +1 for each HORROR card in your line
Blue text: Deal 1 damage to the opposing fighter for each other card in your line
Assume the following line that adds up to 10 syllables: Blah Horror Blah Blah Horror
1) Is Horror's regular attack 5 (add +1 for the previous Horror) or 6 (add +1 for the previous Horror and +1 for itself)?
The first interpretation assumes "each HORROR" card means "each other HORROR card." The second assumes that it means all HORROR cards including itself, otherwise it would have said "each other" HORROR card as it does in the blue text. We went with the first interpretation because otherwise this card's value would always be 5, which seems weird.
2) Does Horror's blue text deal 4 damage (each other card in the line) or 3 damage (each other non-Horror card in the line)?
The first interpretation assumes that "other card" means all cards except the last one. The second interpretation assumes that "other" is read in conjunction with the during combat effect and thus excludes all HORROR cards. Opponent thought second; I thought first. Ended up going with the second interpretation b/c I'm a big ol' people pleaser.

So I made some player trays that fit on the sides of sleeved player cards. The sleeves are very sturdy heavy duty that you can order form Amazon and the trays will fit them with the sleeves trimmed or untrimmed. I made a 2, 3, and 4 compartmental versions so you can print the one you want. The STL are uploaded but going through verification on MakerWorld. Here are the protectors used for the player cards:
Henoyso 5 Pcs 8.5" x 14" Rigid Print Protectors Clear Heavy Duty

Highly recommend this PC game for a nice Thunder Road-esque experience.https://store.steampowered.com/app/1619570/Death_Roads_Tourn...
Wasteland Express Delivery Service feels a bit like moonshine-running but is a bigger picture game than Thunder Road.

Reply: Unmatched: Slings & Arrows:: Rules:: Re: Two questions about Shakespeare's Horror card
by itchywookie
When you are resolving a Horror's During Combat effect, it's not in your line. When resolving combat, the last thing that happens after any AFTER COMBAT effects and after any other game effects: "finally, all played cards are placed in their respective discard piles." (This is from the BoL v1 rulebook, page 12). "Whenever Shakespeare or his Actors use an action card to attack or defend, instead of discarding it, place it face up in front of you to add it to the line you are composing."So for Q1, when resolving a Horror's DURING COMBAT, just look for other Horrors in your line. It won't count itself, because it's not put into your line until after everything from that combat is over.
For Q2, the first interpretation is right. "Each other card in your line" doesn't mean "each other non-Horror card," or they would have said so.
