Game is definitely easier than regular pandemic.
Regular Pandemic without any expansions and without throwing in extra Epidemic cards is pretty damn easy....
I'm glad someone's confirming my suspicions.

ahh I see it says that on the sticker sheet, because it does not say that in the rulebook that I could find. Will pay closer attention to the sticker sheet, glad I have not started a game yet otherwise I could have done something stupid :modest: .

Yes. Just remember relationships can only be applied when "creating" a character(i.e. it was never used before) and keep track of the players and characters on the character sheets and rule book. Have fun!↧

Hi everyone. Long time lurker, first time poster. I'd appreciate everyone's help in answering questions:(Non-spoiler-y): For one of the character upgrades, Flexible, it states to discard a card to pick up another card of the same color in the player discard pile. Am I interpreting that correctly? If I discard a black card, then using the Flexible character upgrade, I can pick up another black card?
July
[o]I reread the instructions of finding the virologist several times but I feel like I'm still missing information. I opened all the appropriate doors. One thing I'm particularly confused about is the "search cards." Not sure what those are.[/o]
[o]Equipment cards: Since they're on player cards, are they treated like unfunded event cards as well? Using this as other city cards or as equipment cards, but not both, correct? Also (and this is kind of a long shot), but can anyone (regardless of medical or military) use the equipment cards? I know to create one, it's specified, but what about in terms of usage?[/o]
Thank you for your replies. Any help is immensely appreciated!!

What are these relationships?I saw that there are areas for this on the character cards, but I didn't see anything about it in the rule book or on the sticker page (my box contained 1 sticker page -- is that correct?).
If these only come in later in the game (only played January so far), how come they can only be applied to newly created characters?
Thanks for an explanation!

Here's a thread where we've had some discussion about turning the game into a re-usable campaign. It's had minimal de-railing by people that prefer the pure legacy experience.Pandemic: Campaign
There's a few spoilers regarding components, but they're in spoiler tags.
We also discuss the things you can see when you first open the box before playing openly, I don't really consider those spoilers (most are visible on the game page).

Flexible: Yes, you are interpreting the card correctly.July:
[o]Did you draw everything until the Stop card in the Legacy deck? I was confused on the virologist search until that point. There is a little playmat that clears things up. [/o]
[o]Equipment Cards: Yes, use it as either equipment or the city, but not both. Any character can use an equipment card. Medical vs Military only matters when creating the cards...[/o]

Sorry I will edit my response to make it clear it is a partial spoiler.[o]Yes, per the rules governing the application of relationships, which you will see when they are introduced, they only can be applied to newly created characters.[/o]

Hi,

Non-Spoiler answer: Yes, you can vary the number of players per game.

You are Correct. If there is 0, 1 or 2 faded in a city, you will place one faded or remove a quarantine marker (if there was one). If there are already 3 faded, ignore placing/removing anything.

Thread: Pandemic Legacy:: General:: Campaign Difficulty Question (No Spoilers)
by Theorel
This is addressed to players that regularly play Pandemic with 7 epidemics, or 6 virulent strains with mutations, or something equivalent with other expansions...because with 6 regular epidemics you (essentially) never lose. How does the difficulty of the campaign really measure up?
I know the campaign is self-balancing to a degree, and a lot will probably depend on choices taken and how well we adapt to the new challenges.
But, if you fall in this category would you just recommend playing for 12 wins in a row? -I mean this would be a cool achievement, and I assume pretty challenging to manage, but is it an interesting challenge?
Would you say the game eventually gets hard enough that the second half of the year will be a good interesting challenge?
Or do you find the lack of challenge kills some enthusiasm, and we should consider pushing the difficulty up right from the start?

by colormage1
Thanks for the reply, Jeremy! That was basically exactly what I wanted to know.My entire problem is that I don't like Pandemic as a game at all. I don't. However, I love the Legacy mechanic. And I was thinking that combined, I could enjoy Pandemic Legacy.
But my favorite part of Risk Legacy was how different things could happen at any time and how the stakes seemed to be very high and there was a lot of potential for stuff to happen. And it seems that that doesn't exist here.
That being said, if I can find it cheap, I'll probably get it. Because even though I dislike Pandemic a lot, I could definitely play it 24 times with stuff changing every game. But it went from a definite buy to a maybe because of the how the Legacy portion seems to be incorporated.

The game starts off with only 5 epidemics. I have not played far enough to see if more come out, but can tell you that the game starts to add different things that will make it more challenging. I don't want to go into spoilers so I'll stay opaque, but there will be changes to the diseases and to the board that will make things more difficult.Additionally, as you win games you will get less funding (e.g. fewer Special Event cards). To an extent the game is self balancing in that it will give you more tools to win when you start to fall behind and that mistakes that you make will have game lasting effects through out the year.
So far my group has made it through three months with three straight wins, but we've had a lot of lucky card draws to get there. We are fully expecting things to get harder and believe that a loss is right on the horizon.

I just cannot fathom why anyone would even *want* to change the game by including an unplanned expansion before even playing it!
Because most who play with In the Lab prefer that method and are used to the way it plays. Tbh, I wasn't the biggest fan of Pandemic before In the Lab. Now it's one of my favorite games. I've played enough base Pandemic to where I feel Legacy will be enjoyable, but mostly because of the theme, story and added gameplay elements.
The other issue for me is I will be playing 2 player, so the ability to trade cards isn't as easy since there is only 1 other player to trade with, and I don't want to use extra roles.
But Pandemic Legacy != Pandemic. So just because you prefer the ITL variant of the base game has no relationship to Pandemic Legacy. You haven't even (when this thread was created) gotten your copy yet.
I haven't started my campaign yet so I will fall back on Risk Legacy. With Risk Legacy people who hated regular Risk loved the legacy variant, because it is a different game. People who went into Risk Legacy and made house rules and changes screwed up the dynamics of the campaign in many cases. Just play it as it is intended to be played.

We started with two losses. Well, we are not experienced Pandemic gamers, but we got extremely unlucky with card draws and especially the first game was outright impossible to win.↧
