@justin - Any word yet? It's been a year since you mentioned it would be sometime this year. Just curious if there was any word yet.

Return to Dark Tower ate up so much of our bandwidth. We're just starting to pick this up again. As soon as we have something to report, I will.

Probably not the best answer but we're most of the way through the Core Box scenarios and have played with all of the Elder Ones - mixing and matching them. Dagon is probably the hardest of the EO's to pull off a win against with the Black Goat being next hardest. The scenarios all seemed to require a bit different strategy, a bit of luck with dice rolls and can be scaled a bit by choosing an easier or harder EO. Regardless we've enjoyed them all and I look forward to getting it back to the table when my girlfriend finishes painting the remaining investigators.

Has anyone heard if they are only sending games out to those who ordered the base game only or are they sending them out in some other order? (Order number, alphabetically, etc.) Just wondering if they are going to send out the base games first to those who ordered multiple items with the rest shipped later or if they are waiting for everything before shipping it all at once.

I think I remember hearing that they are sending out to people who have just the base game first... I think it was because they don't want to do multiple shipments and all the parts are not in place yet for the larger orders. The one exception is the player mats, which are shipping out separately. I'm saying this all from memory though, hopefully I'm no leading you astray.

That's a similar feel to the motorcycle gang in one of the expansions, though they are even smaller.

I’m currently tinkering with designing home brew factions that mix and match different vehicle. First up, I want to do a faction that has 1 large, 2 small, 2 bikes, and no chopper. I’m going to make ‘em look like the buzzards from Mad Max Fury Road.

No, yeah I got it. I also have an emoji there :geek_tongue:.

I just wanted to show off some of my sweet custom heroes.

My Living Dead deck features Zombies; which are all heroes that need to be defeated. The zombies are weak 1 health discs, but there are many of them (start with 5, can go up to 10). They have a stacking mechanic and can form mobs of up to 5 discs on a single space (and are then treated as a single fighter with that respective health). Their cards are meant to take advantage of their swarming mechanics (when there more are of them, they do more damage) and one of their defense cards generate more Zombies ("Endless"). Also they have a no-sell blocking card called "Wall of Bodies" (3 defense kind of like a feint in that it cancels effects. It's their version of feint. It's not versatile, but it's stronger. Seeing as how they're mindless, I don't see them "feinting" much.) They can also bite and infect sidekicks (making more zombies if they die while infected). They only have a move of 1, and 28 cards (because I needed to make sure that they don't have an easy way of exhausting every hero- if you spread out your zombies they're a little hard to hut down.) They're designed to feel like fighting a horrible horde of zombies that slowly surrounds and cuts off escape.

My Minotaur is cool too. He can place Labyrinth tokens and block movement in different places on the board. (You have to discard a card to remove a wall.) He's pretty mobile (3 movement) and tough (18 health) but has no sidekicks. He uses the Labyrinth tokens for his schemes and attacks. It's meant to feel like fighting The Minotaur in his maze, which he knows intimately and exploits to his advantage.

I like it as well.
What is the stacking mechanic about? Is that how two vehicles share one space?

I am currently cobbling together the enemy units to run the game. Instead of Gnolls, I'll use Orcs. It has given me a chance to look at what I already own, buy what I need, and finish painting both minis and terrain.

Yes, so one thing that the new Thunder Road adds is a stacking of models. This is a novel mechanic that makes resolving collisions way more naturally intuitive. Here’s the way it works:

When your vehicle enters an occupied space (it has another vehicle or wreck), you simply stack your figure on top of that figure. Then you roll the ‘slam’ dice. One of the slam dice determines whether the top or bottom car is displaced, weighted in favor of the bottom car being displaced. The other die determines which direction the displaced car moves. This can result in additional slams, and the more players, the more chaotic it becomes (and the stronger the need for a simple game play solution such as the stacking).

As far as I can tell, bikes, and the big rig do NOT stack. They have additional rules and exceptions that require they stay apart from the base game collision rules.

The Choppe Shoppe expansion has car upgrades and crew leader abilities that can also affect the slam resolution and potentially the stacking mechanic.

Thanks. So does it means some tiles [o]will not be available for selection[/o] during the campaign?

The amount of tiles post-campaign should be roughly the same for every play group, I think, maybe plus/minus three tiles. As Robert said, what specific tiles you end up with is mostly determined by your group's Haunts. You're regularly instructed to destroy the tiles that didn't make it into your "tile deck".

Just curious, how each of you celebrate Christmas?

We usually have our get together on Christmas Eve at our house. Once my folks moved to Arizona in the 90s if fell on me to host. This year we have to do our get together on Christmas Eve Eve, since most of the family work as first responders so there is no such thing as the holidays off, just based on your days off.

We use to draw names for gifts but now we do a white elephant gift after dinner. It has been more fun especially when the gifts start to get stolen. One year it was nearly 2/3 booze gifts so I had to say the gifts need to be more creative. Must be the Irish/Italian heritage.

I have hosted both families (the wife’s and mine) but once I hit 32 guests, I said enough was enough. With some in the garage it was getting to be too much, especially when cooking prime rib and the timing…no wonder I keep losing my hair. With my own immediate family now we are at a comfortable 14. Seems like everyone gets to visit without having forgotten someone to say hi to.

Of course we start off dinner with an appreciation of what Christmas Day actually means to us all. Then we go around the table and each adult has to talk about one thing that occurred to them during this past year that was special. I am hoping no one talks about being able to walk about with no masks… 😜
