Sun Wukong seems to be the strongest in this set and generally good fighter. As Achilles there is no good time to kill sidekick. Try to do it as fast as possible. +2 to all attacks is very strong.
That is apparently not entirely true..this particular match up (sun wukong vs Achilles) played by pro players shows indeed that it is much more convenient to keep Pat alive as long as possible in order not to run out of cards with Achilles and therefore to die by exhaustion.
Dying by exhaustion would be my concern with Achilles drawing extra cards. Pit him against somebody like the Invisible man, who plays an exhaustion game...or against a Bruce Lee who keeps pulling cards back into his hand. That would likely be a bad day for Achilles.
I finally got to play Bloody Mary, and see my son play Yennenga, this evening. Both had powerful moments. Bloody Mary won. I was able to start my turn with 3 cards quite a few times, taking advantage of the healing ability, and the extra-powerful 7 attack. Yennenga defended against one of those while I was on 3 zones, and only took one damage.
One of the things I like about this game is that each fighter plays to different strategies. They feel different. Some matchups are more favorable than others. And if you get the right card draw, and do the right things at the right time, anybody can beat anybody on any night. So many variables fit into a really tight game. Restoration Games really does an outstanding job. And the Art!!!!! Did I say how awesome it is?

Any further thoughts on the balancing, including public sentiment toward the double attack mechanic are welcomed. I’ll be on record saying the double attack is my primary worry. It seems a very strong addition to some very strong decks.
No question that the bonus attack mechanic is potent. That's why we only included one in each deck. We also wanted to show some of the different ways it could be iterated, e.g., Tricked You.
My son absolutely loves "Tricked You." Several times in our game the other day, I (as Sun Wukong) laid down an attack card, and my boy starts laughing and trying to get me to hint what it is. "It's Tricked you, isn't it? I know that's what it is." and he laughs. Sometimes he was wrong, but once he was right and he didn't defend. In that moment he felt like he had conquered the world. Good times. These types of additions to the game keep it fresh and fun and interesting.

Pops, from the unspeakable box, skill says, "Other investigators in your space may choose not to activate their insanity."Does this mean when you roll and get sanity loss symbols then you don't have to count them that turn or is it referring to the insanity threshold and choose not to activate the insanity card?
Or how would you play this skill?

I removed all the stickers from my board after the campaign. My wife and I played base game tonight, and it was fine. There are only 5 base characters, and they aren’t changed from the base game, so making copies of regular edition would be nice to have.If space is an issue, keep normal.
I plan on putting together 8 different scenarios based on the months that I thought were fun, using the pieces that came in the legacy box. Have not worked out how to balance the later months as a one off game.

Agree with Hank, everything up to the triggering their insanity is handled normally. They may just choose to allow it (if beneficial), or not.↧

just to clarify, I didn't mean it maliciously, that's why the smiley there. And of course there is nothing saying you cannot tweak the game for your own use! Those customs you made look good! It was just an observation as when I see your name I always expect suggestions on how to change/update/fix the game :D↧

Thread: Thunder Road: Vendetta:: General:: Doom Buggy Discussion
by nobeerblues
So we’ve been talking about our mixed feelings regarding the Eliminator (large vehicle). I think it would be fun to talk about the merits of the Doom Buggy and it’s aesthetic as well. The Doom Buggy is on its way to being one of my favorite sculpts. The stacking widget on top has been sculpted to look like a spare tire. The roll cage gives it an appropriate off-road look. The wheels are chunky, they stick out, and have knobby treads that are visible even on a tiny prototype. It also has a row of headlamps and spare stowage that look pretty cool. It looks so much better than the classic Doom Buggy shown here.
The Doom Buggy is deceptive in that it appears fragile, but it’s arguably the most effective vehicle available, and often it’s the one sprinting toward the finish line dodging one chopper attack after another.
Small vehicles have an advantage of being dodgy when shot at. Even when hit, they can take just as much damage as the larger vehicles. This also means that other drivers might choose to not even shoot at them if it’s possible to shoot at an easier target.
In collisions, the smaller vehicles get knocked around more. Slams don’t seem to apply damage as much as shooting, so it really doesn’t scare me unless there are deadly features such as choppers, impassable terrain, or the road edge nearby. Then your Doom Buggy could be eliminated rather easily by a larger vehicle. One trick is to go after the Doom Buggy with both an air strike and a slam. Try to create a situation where you use re-rolls to push the doom buggy into something that will eliminate it.
I wonder what a crew of 3 Doom Buggies would be like to play. Now that the vehicles sizes are represented by actual game mechanics, I think it would be fun to experiment around with this stuff.

For the US it sounds like at least 2 of the ships have already been to port and dropped off the games. I think those ships had only the Core game onboard. From what I have read, Quartermaster has a portion of the core game and it is in their queue to send out 'soon'. But Restoration Games has said several times to prepare for it to take a long time to ship out. Some people will get it in December... but it will probably stretch out to February for others.
