Completely agree with Kain. My wife and I have played Season 1 and Season 2, with an unopened copy of Season 0 on the shelf awaiting us....
We really liked Season 2 - the exploration of the world was great fun, and the "Supplies" mechanic was a refreshing change.

I own and enjoy both.

The base game is certainly less polished and more prone to imbalance. That said, if you enjoy utter unpredictability, the base game is where it's at.

More thought was put into the Legacy version to make it a more reliable experience. Each haunt in the Legacy campaign is different, of course, but they all have a similar feel.

On Dice Tower's Boardgame Breakfast this morning, Tom Vassel announced that they will be doing a live playthrough of Return to Dark Tower next week. I'm assuming they will be playing the FEP (Final Engineering Prototype) that was shown in the latest Kickstarter update.

Betrayal Legacy was one of the best Legacy games I've ever played. If you like Betrayal you will love Betrayal Legacy!

question regarding [o]one of the relationships - rivals[/o]

can you [o]chain discarding and collecting - say, medic and Q. Specialist are rivals - medic uses Atlanta card, Q. Specialist discards Lagos and Moscow in order to take Atlanta - can the medic then discard 2 of his other cards to take one of Lagos/Moscow - or even discarding 4 and taking both[/o]?

This is awesome news! I just hope they tone down the silliness a bit as compared to the previous playthrough on TDT, so that we can get a better read on how it feels to play the game, along with duration. I'm all for people having fun and messing with each other while playing a game, but a playthrough video can be a great asset for a game if it focuses on feel, gameplay and experience, and not on the "sidebar" conversations of the hosts. Just my two cents.

Could I get some advice from this thread on the best "characters" to play this game with solo? I stumbled across a discussion on how much some people hate this game on Reddit. I did as much research as I could, got the "Speedfall" variant from the nice fellow here working on that (and read as much as I could without spoiling things) and found a copy going for $30 so I figured, what the heck, lets try this crazy damn idea.

So please no spoilers, but I thought you'd have some tips on 1) how many hands to play, and 2) what their priorities might best be

I think my suggestion would be to read the background information on the back of each province board (which should give you an initial idea of focuses to associate with each province), then play the initial (tutorial) scenario with personas *loosely* based on what you read there. After the tutorial scenario you'll get some more information, and that combined with a somewhat better understanding of game mechanisms gained by playing through the tutorial should allow you to come up with more permanent personas.

Focuses to consider: Exploration, Trading, Building, Raiding

I think it would probably work best to give each faction a primary and secondary interest, making sure that there is some overlap between the factions to generate competition.

I think the backstories lead to possible focuses along these lines (though be warned, I might be flavoring my recollections based on the preferences of the players in my campaign, rather than the backstories):
Green: Exploration/Research
Black: Piracy/Raiding
Blue: Trade/Build
Red: Exploration/Build
Purple: (I don't recall)

I hope that helps!

I have both and thoroughly enjoy both. If you haven't played either, basic Betrayal is where you should start as it will have more resale value if you discover it isn't for you. If you quit halfway through a campaign of Legacy, your copy is not worth much as you've changed things.

Hi everyone,

I am planning to buy a Pandemic Legacy game but i'm not sure which one should I get first.

Is it okey if I buy Season 0 first?

Thank you for your time.

Yes. It works standalone with no other Legacy games or Pandemic games previously played. It's fun!

Just FYI, this is February spoilers.

And, yes, you can do what you describe, though it does get expensive very quickly.

I have played all three. You can do them in any order. Season 0 is my favorite!

If you're an experienced Pandemic player, I might recommend Season 1 first, just to give you an idea of how the Legacy portion tends to work without having to worry as much about the underlying games, but you really could play them in any order you want so Season 0 is a perfectly fine starting point too.

What is the wording on symptom cards? Does it just prevent discarding?

Yeah the wording in my first post is taken straight from the Symptom card.

"This card counts as a card in your hand. You cannot discard this card when you exceed your hand limit."

If you are sensitive to spoilers, you should play season 1 first. Both season 0 and season 2 include references to the story in season 1.

Got em in, and hoo boy are these tight, too tight in fact. I was able to fit the card into the sleeve, but it's bending way too much for my liking. I generally like a tighter fit, but I had a bunch of Paladin Detlef sleeves laying around that do the trick just fine, just more of a loose FFG premium sleeve sort of fit, but I'm happy with it
