Just happened in our game tonight. Reds were where the blues were meant to be.

We are probably only 1 game away from the 3 missile box, so the spoiler isn't totally game breaking, just disappointing now that we know what's coming.

Is it worth contacting Hasbro about it other than to gripe about it?

I've been wondering the same, but haven't actually tried to break it down yet. Taking the Elder Gods out of the boxes would save space, but I like how convenient it is to fit everything in there. My current thoughts are to stick all episodes and elder ones into one box, then to bag the rest of the minis and stick them in one of the other boxes.

How does Rasputin's free death timing work?

-What happens to the rest of the attack that killed you?

-Do you skip the rest of the attack phase or continue with the next enemy if there is one?
-Since it's 'instead of dying' (according to FAQ), I guess you keep all tokens too?

I played it the way you 'cheat death' and never actually die, so I kept the tokens and discovery cards I had (This was before I read the FAQ). I also continued the attacks with the creatures that were left (stopping midway with the attack that killed me), but luckily survived their attacks with 2 hp.

Rasputin's free death ability is resolved during step 2 of the roll sequence, after Successes are applied and killed him. That means it doesn't avoid loss of Sanity from the attack as Tentacles are resolved after that.
For the same reason, other Monsters in his space get to attack him and he keeps all tokens and discovery cards.

Its ironic that most consumers of the original The Dark Tower probably didn't think twice about how long it would last (I know I didn't), while these days with 2000+ new games each year adults freak out that their toy might not last forever and ever.

It's not ironic. Everything, even toys, used to be made to last longer.
And the original tower wasn't subjected to bad patches from periodic updates and forced obsolescence.
Once you bought your game, it was a done deal - no unwanted changes or additional BS to deal with. If you did break it or wear it out, however, that was understood as part of life.

I think that Restoration Games wants to grab as much support for this project as possible - and that includes those who had and/or remember the original game and likely want a more similar experience where another device isn't involved. You know, those utterly distasteful miscreants you refer to with opinions that differ from the "apps rule" crowd.

In addition, you do realize you are on a forum for discussion, right?
It's not your exclusive territory here. You may not agree with some of us, but we're here nonetheless. It's like that in nearly every forum so, to quote you: "just move on and focus on something you like" if the discussion bothers you.

Just like memories and nostalgia, electronic toys from the 70's and 80's were faulty, unreliable and they definitely got worse over time. They were not built better than today. When it comes to boardgames and even most consumer electronics specifically, the quality and durability is much much better today than it was when Dark Tower came out (with a few exceptions, though the Dark Tower is not one).

Also I know exactly where I am, in a discussion with multiple people where it's very easy to misquote others when someone is having a self-righteous rant. So, respectfully, maybe, probably, you should back up just a bit and look around before quoting people incorrectly.

Yep, the card specifies investigate as something you can’t do. They lump it in with actions, which makes it easy to gloss over. But it is very clear if you read it carefully. Essentially you entirely skip phase 3 of the turn sequence while catatonic.

Shoot yeah i definitely glossed over it then, I guess my mind just assumed it was all "actions". Thanks for clearing that up!

Ya, I normally full bag even painted minis, but I don't think it's worth losing the ease of combining episodes and GOOs. The system might just be worth the extra box.

I'd settle for getting it down to two boxes and somehow getting the unspeakable box combined with season 2?

I tried to solve this same problem yesterday. I managed to get it down to two boxes with all heroes and only the single GOO and episode that I was facing. This made setup much faster as I knew where every map tile that I needed was (because i found them prior to setting up for the game) and I knew exactly where all the enemies I needed were. Ultimately, you only need two sets of enemies and the GOO box so all other non-hero models can be left at home. The fact that the one massive tray in the season 2 box contains both heroes, a spot for the player cards and monsters is unfortunate.

I might end up trying foamcore when this is all said and done but I'm not there yet.

On a related note: Has anyone figured out a good way of storing the map tiles? It really sucks to try to find all the tiles you need and have to dig through the massive stack of tiles. There aren't enough of them to warrant a full folder system but there are just enough to be annoying.

All 3 boxes fit into a Kallax cube which is nice. I am leaving things as they are for now. As my shelf needs space I may look into consolidating somehow.

Hmm, do people actually do that in co-ops? I've played quite a bit of Escape and Lord of the Rings and have never observed someone to say "Ha ha, five black masks, sit there and rot, sucker!" or "Three pips on the die, you're Sauron-food for sure, chump!"

Schadenfreude seems like an intrinsically competitive-game thing.

It depends on the meta of the group. My former D&D buddies and I would constantly laugh at each other's misfortunes/screw-ups while playing a "co-op" RPG. I could see us doing the same in a co-op board game, even as we work together to try to beat the game. That's just how our group dynamic evolved over our decades of gaming together.

It would be very different if I was playing a co-op game with my family, or with my wife and another couple. We'd be more sympathetic of each other's plight.

Ya agree, I just want to get it to where I can fit something else with it in a kallex cubby like Blood Rage (which is easily only ONE box even with wooden inserts in it!).

This is the best one sentence summary of this game I have found so far. I'll probably use it every time I introduce someone to this game. Thank you!

Rob liked it as well: https://twitter.com/robdaviau/status/1202206930573418496

Thank you! It simultaneously made my week to see Rob Daviau’s tweet and then horror that I had a grammatical mistake in it.

I need an editor and a photographer for my reviews. :D

Hi, I know I could technically look myself, but I like being surprised so I'm not opening any boxes (Or looking at the content listings!)

Do the S2 scenarios use ONLY the S2 map tiles, or are they mixed with S1?

Game Steward is the only one I know. It is a website though. You can find some on ebay as well for a little more cost than the KS cost.

401games.ca in Canada had a bunch. Not sure if they've completely sold out or not.

It's a mix.

The core box provides the basic tile set, and the Season 2 box provides a small set of additional tiles that are added to those to construct the maps for Season 2 scenarios.
