My partner and I never had a chance. We tried shooting the Revenant so we could stun it and then try and rip it apart but apparently for some reason, according to the traitor player anyway, it couldn't be stunned by a gun. The Revenant player put his heirloomed eyeglasses he had under the monsters card which apparently made it even stronger. He literally tracked us down in two turns and mauled us to death in a single combat, we never had a chance to even try to remove a body part, much less 3. The whole thing ended two rounds after the haunt begin, one round to kill each of us. I felt it was way unbalanced, too. I don't see how we could have came close to wining, at all.

I haven't played the game much yet, but doesn't seem to be a problem as is.

Why don't you wait to see if the notch does ever get worn away and IF it ever does super glue it then?

I know Broken Token is making a storage solution but are they going to be the only one? Can Restoration somehow limit other companies and give Broken Token exclusivity? Will the storage from Broken Token hold everything? I went all in with sleeves and painted minis and I hope their storage fits it all in one (massive) box. Also, will it be available for Christmas (at least for preorder)?

(I know the only people who can answer this are the companies themselves but I figured I would ask anyway)

However the Dirge player only names their characters after Garfield characters.
Those feel properly dark (and action-y?). Look out for the scourge of Nermal Dirge.

That works on quite a few levels. Feels like they’d have a good backstory.

We played our game today and I did end up with the yellow/gold family. When it came time to put the family name on the crest my first instinct was ‘sunhsine’... cuz I saw a sun in front of me. But I thought of all the great examples here and took fba827’s technique to stick to a theme and the idea of nonglutionous grain names amused me too much based off of Lord Sierra’s grain names that I went with that - hope you don’t mind Sierra.

So far we have Amaranth and Teff Buckwheat. (Teff is still kickin’!) The Buckwheats were joined in the journey by Tiban and Kuling Escudero and Fuego Traps. (My oldest had an abundance of homework so it was a 3 player game).

Anyone else up for sharing more names? 🙂

I don’t have the game but I have played arkham horror lcg with my son (10). The game is ok because it’s monster horror. But Betrayal seems to be horror movie type of horror. I would bet that if you wouldn’t let your children read an horror comics, it would be better to not play the game with them. Beside, the game is english only and if your kid is to become the haunted, he will have to read his role alone in english.

Pandemic Legacy has season 2 content, but that's not an expansion, per se..

Risk Legacy had a Spielbox promo that was actually really good.

I think the only way a company can limit an insert maker is by not giving permission to use copyrighted material. That’s why many companies use oddball names for inserts rather than the game’s name. When they do get permission, they use the game’s name and iconography (such as symbols to show which tokens go in which trays).

To encourage an insert provider, they will also provide an advance copy so the insert can be ready when the game launches. Otherwise, a company has to wait and purchase a copy via normal channels.

With so many box complaints, I bet we see at least one or two other inserts shortly after Broken Token. I hope people are braced for some sticker shock. Inserts this big could cost a lot.

I also don't have an issue with the box itself. Yeah, it is corrugated cardboard when I was expecting solid matteboard, but if they're going to change it over to something cheaper and lighter, that's really not a bad way to go with it. There's a detailed explanation to go with it, but long story short, corrugated cardboard gives you nearly the same strength as solid chipboard while cutting the weight nearly in half (you only have the corrugated sheet between the inner and outer layer rather than filling in the entire space), and because it's the de facto shipping container material, it's also dirt cheap to produce. There are some aesthetic choices that make it less than perfect, but those are relatively minor issues in my book.

There are some other issues that I'm going to need to fix along the way - namely that the boards are warped and won't sit flat - but I have a plan for how to fix (most) of those issues, and it shouldn't be too difficult to pull off. I'm even pondering painting up my Vul Kar head with glowing crags and big glowing eyes, but we'll see if I ever actually get to that.

Destroyed means "you won't need them any more for this version of the game", either in free play or campaign. Feel free to recycle or store them in an ornamental coffer or literally bury them in the back yard. But they are no longer part of your story.

What about components that are confined to the "tomb" (aka. the box) in the campaign? Will those return in Free Play mode? For instance, [o]in our third chapter, the heroes won the haunt (it was the doll haunt), and we were told to destroy the Salon and replace it with the Collapsed Room, putting the Bloody Room (from the same plank) in the box, as it "wasn't used in this story. Since the rules specifically stated not to destroy it, but bury it in the box, what happens to it?[/o]

I just finished up a session with my wife, my 9 year old, and my 6 year old. We played with:

- Crimson Cutlass (minus the secret goal cards)
- Treasure Trove (minus the Hangry cards)
- Last Adventurer
- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Bees

It was... a lot. Way more going on in terms of rules and options, but weirdly not as much happening it seemed like. Compared to our base game only session the previous night, the play lasted longer, but there was only 3 knockdowns the whole game. We got to a full scar really fast with just the base game, but we never made it past 2 marbles with the expansions. I think Val-Kur erupted maybe three times in total. We saw bees twice, snakes a few times, the crow's nest went over twice with no effect. The tiger came up a ton, but nobody managed to even hit the island with it. He ended up in low Earth orbit every shot. Aside from the few knockdowns and a couple of bee stings, not much happened to our adventurers. 3 of us made it onto the copter, only the 6 year old got left behind because she was too far away to make it on two turns. Scores were 37 (wife)-27 (me)-22 (6yo)-18 (9yo). Oh, and it took a dog's age to get that all set up.

In the future, if we're just looking to play fun, quick game with the kids, I might just do the base game and some of the trove cards. We'll probably reserve the expansion stuff for the adults sessions or weekends when we've got a little more time and are looking for a bigger game to play with the family.

"Not-linen printed heavy chipboard" apparently translates to "Garbage." My box is absolutely fine.

Look at the thickness of your average boardgame box. The cardboard here is much thinner. Also there are folds on the sides (like you would get with a gift box you pick up at the store). This lessens the rigidity of the box. Again, I don’t play with the box so I don’t much care. However given the flex in the box and the nature of the vacuum formed trays, I would not put anything on top of it.

How about this. Of all the board games I own (and I have a Platinum BGG collection badge, so that is a lot ) I have only two other games with boxes that have the same or lower levels of sturdiness (at least in my perception).

What are the two other games?
