I am not colorblind but have friends who are. Glad to hear the token colors aren't a problem. The photos have matching symbols which is what I wind up using to match myself so I'm hoping that's not a big deal either.

I will say this for the marbles: I don't think they are functionally different from each other, just aesthetically different. So if you mix them up I don't think it will affect game play. Would like to know if you disagree though.

The photos are actually fine. Red blue and yellow were perfect colors to choose and the icons do fix any issues you might have.

The color of the orange and red marbles are irrelevant I. Gameplay. The yellow and green ones do make a difference (if you have the expansion) but the fact that the green ones are much smaller than the red ones fixes that problem too.

My sentiments exactly.

The ability to move and attack essentially gives every unit an "effective assault range" with ranged units drastically outperforming melee units in effective assault range for obvious reasons. The core system of HeroScape, embedded in its very name, is focused on terrain. So if tournaments follow guidelines for designing competitive maps to help melee units, then it should help. Otherwise, range units will dominate. The ability to move more effectively (ie. flight) combined with range gives even more outstanding effective assault range, making flying ranged units like certain dragons (Braxas) and the Ullar Kyrie unit A+. In the tournament I played in that had tons of different maps set up, a Braxas-centered build won first place. An Ullar Kyrie-centered build got second place (for all intents and purposes other than the stupid ranking system used by a corrupt tournament judge) and only lost to the Braxas-centered build. If there were more cover & concealment bonuses plus a revised system for height advantage, it would have drastically changed the results and been more effective at balancing range dominance rather than tailoring maps to basically give a handicap to melee-focused builds.

My box is very strong, I don't see how anyone can say otherwise, I don't care for the bend but that's the only negative I can say about it.

"Not-linen printed heavy chipboard" apparently translates to "Garbage." My box is absolutely fine.

Look at the thickness of your average boardgame box. The cardboard here is much thinner. Also there are folds on the sides (like you would get with a gift box you pick up at the store). This lessens the rigidity of the box. Again, I don’t play with the box so I don’t much care. However given the flex in the bow and the nature of the vacuum formed trays, I would not put anything on top of it.

How about this. Of all the board games I own (and since I have a Platinum BGG collection badge, so that is a lot) I have only two other games with boxes that have the same or lower levels of sturdiness (at least I my perception).

You may be able to fix the blue mini yourself pretty easily. There is a technique where you dunk the mini in scalding hot water for a few seconds and then in ice water:

I'll second having tons of success straightening bent minis (or even flattening curved bases) using hot water. I would even say you don't need "scalding" temperature, but ideally hotter does work better and/or faster.

All these comments about the box, and the observations of the vacuum formed bases, remind me exactly of toys I used to get when I was a kid, back in the 60s and early seventies.

This doesn't sound right to me. What if the objective had been 'Connect 20 total cities'*? If you did that before you drew it you could never complete it?

* Yes, there is no such objective. But there are objectives with counts that don't say 'new' I didn't feel like overthinking spoilers for. The point is, where did you come up with this "don't trigger retroactively" idea?

I love this game and rated it high. But if someone says he dislikes this game, I most likely will agree with his reasons. This game is Amerithrash, both at its best and worst. So if you like Amerithrash, you will rate it high. If you dislike Amerithrash, you will rate it low. But the latter may not be the case.

Personally: I dislike legacy games. I play with a changing group of people, so a fixed group is not my style. Also I am the type that sleeves cards and tries to keep his games in great condition. Now you want me to write on the game and even destroy parts of it. My core hurts from the thought alone. Both a good reasons to dislike these type of games. So I can go on these boards and give any legacy game one star and rightly so. But I won't.

First is rating games an effort. Why should I put effort into something negative. I would dislike becoming such an anti-legacy-fanatic. Also I won't play these games because I won't enjoy them. How can I rate a game that I have not played yet. But the best reason thy not, is that I like my ratings to be useful. Anyone considering a legacy game, knows what it is and can already make out if my gripes against the game, are valid for himself. I can better leave the rating to someone who is likely to appreciate the game and give it a fair chance. That person can really Judge the game for quality instead of genre.

It might be that a lot of people, that dislike Amerithrash, won't rate the game for similar reasons. So most people that love the genre will vote on it and the game is good in its genre.

Just got done sorting and reading the rule book, I see references to "haunt 0" but no specifics on HOW to begin the initial game. I don't see a 'first play' type section. What am I missing?

Thanks!

Restoration Games lost some trust with me. Sticking their backers with such a cheap box was a low blow that none of us saw coming. Of all the thousands of comments and questions poised to them: none questioned the box because we all assumed the box would be of standard quality at least. We loved pandemic legacy and since we bought into the "same designer" marketing, we incorrectly assumed the box would roughly be the same. That box is amazing. I won't back another one of their games for sure. Only wait and see from now on. Now I'm not a CMON lover, but they have earned trust from backers. Again, I'm disappointed in the sneaky ways Restoration Games has cut corners in quality to the backers who trusted and prepaid for their product.

I'll help you out. Not a problem. Stuck on an airplane for the next three hours. Have you played regular Betrayal at House on the Hill before?

If I recall correctly:

[o]The Laborer would let them build a supply center for 4 cards. Then recon with 4 cards. So that is 8 Yellow of 12 (3 cities with 4 cards each).

Then establish a supply line to Lima.

If the first game is failed because they don't recon North America...

Then in the second January game they would only need to get the Lima card, search it. And then enter the haven.[/o]

Yes, this is exactly what happened, on the last and second-to-last turns of the first and second games, respectively. Agree it wouldn't be possible in game 1.

Page 7 in the rule book kinda gets you started with the ‘Setup’ steps. Once you’ve done that and everyone is ready open the legacy deck, turn the first card over and read it. That should get you started on the adventure.

If you have no treasure and you're knocked down by a fireball or ember or whathave you, obviously, you can't give up a treasure.

1) do you still get a souvenir card?

2) if you're playing with injury cards, are you forced to take an injury? (since you can't "choose to give up a treasure")

thank you!

I did know that, yep! I really love all the improvements they made to the Betrayal formula with Betrayal at Baldur's Gate (especially the addition of character powers) but I think that Betrayal Legacy is definitely the most refined version of the Betrayal formula, and absolutely wanna see more content developed for it.

Yep. Set up as shown in the rules and then look at the top card of the legacy deck and do what it says.

You are entitled to your opinion but I think that this is a little excessive. Trust me...there are MUCH worse boxes that I have received as part of Kickstarters.

Restoration was clearly trying to get a game that they could sell to the mass market. The price point of the game is already pretty high so at this level, 5 dollars could make or break a sale. I would take the box that I got and get the game that I got.

I am sitting here staring at my copy set up and all I have to say is WOW. If I really need a better storage solution I suspect that Broken Token will get it for me. :D

Restoration’s next KS will be Return to the Dark Tower and I am really looking forward to seeing what they do with this one. I am still a fan.

As for the CMON comment...Sure, the quality is great. You get what you pay for. They are a hobby company and they have conditioned us to throw large amounts of money their way. They can afford more expensive components. Restoration could do the same if hobby gamers were the only ones that they wanted to sell to, but this game could help them break through to a larger market, so more power to them.
