Thread: Fireball Island: The Curse of Vul-Kar:: General:: Someone is going to put this in their oven...

...and I’m looking forward to the report!

If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my years on BGG, it’s that my fellow Geeks are insane and will go to extremes when trying to ‘fix’ game components. I’ve read threads about dipping components in boiling water, putting them in the microwave, dabbing with rubbing alcohol and trimming corners off of chits.

The heat warning mixed with the not-uncommon issue of warping (one of my corners sits about 1cm off the table) got me thinking someone will stick theirs in the oven soon and offer the rest of us a ‘recipe’ for fixing it. Of course, somewhere a Geek will forget they put it in there, and that thread will be legendary...

As an interpretation, I agree with the post above. However...

Just as a check, did you play two January games? I am almost positive that it isn't possible to do what you did in just one game.

Thanks. Yes, we lost the first half of January due to not reconning North America.

Ah right, forgot that objective was mandatory. Must be nice to have that before January even starts!

I'm not going to say definitively that it's impossible, but it would at the very least be an extraordinary feat.

You'd have to...
[o]...build a supply centre, recon, establish a supply line, somehow get a City card from the player discard pile into a player's hand and then search. A tall order, especially when you only have nine yellow cards to start with.[/o]

You do realise all copies are printed from the same file, right? If your copy has a typo, all copies have that typo…

I probably should have written "notice" instead of "have." I guess we all make mistakes!

I hope no bad feelings! I just thought it was a little funny :)

Just curious what people thought the red lines were for?

You can not build a sea lane across a red line. This makes the game so much easier in all the posts I have seen here.

If I recall correctly:

[o]The Laborer would let them build a supply center for 4 cards. Then recon with 4 cards. So that is 8 Yellow of 12 (3 cities with 4 cards each).

Then establish a supply line to Lima.

If the first game is failed because they don't recon North America...

Then in the second January game they would only need to get the Lima card, search it. And then enter the haven.[/o]

Destroyed means "you won't need them any more for this version of the game", either in free play or campaign. Feel free to recycle or store them in an ornamental coffer or literally bury them in the back yard. But they are no longer part of your story.

I’m not much of an arts and crafts kind of guy, but I’m thinking of saving all my destroyed materials for some kind of art display. No idea how to go about it yet but I’ve got 14 games to think about it. :D

If you send your game to me now and I send mine to you when I get it (no.shipping notice yet) you can still miss your deadline. 😁

In all.seriousness though, the rice krispies molded into a hat thing would probably be the easiest/cheapest option...unless of course you have rice crispies like I do.

Good luck through the holidays, money is tight here too.

Is it only after a correct name guess, or is it also after an INcorrect name guess?

My gut says it’s only after a correct guess, but the rules (“otherwise”) seem ambiguous.

thanx for doing that

I haven't looked at all the cards yet and I treasure trove

yeah that's what I was thinking or maybe a d8

but yeah lower rolls is the problem especially in the end game to get to the hello-copter is another reason they designed card values.

To 'speed' the game up roll a d6 as a modifier to the card value. not sure if saul runs that fast lol

I do that with some games like the D&D board games to see the average attack modifier is +7 when I make my own characters I base it on that and then modified based on number of target, range, hit affects to balance it out

It's worth trying

That would not work so well. That type of plastic was engineered to “slump”. Find a video on Plastic Thermo Forming. As a side note, The registration clamps leeway in this is also the reason this type of item often suffers from slight misalignment issues with the printing.

I wondered this as well. It ended up not mattering in our game but we decided that we only needed one and the 2nd player just earned you a maw treasure.
