So, did you look up the maps we have already? The backstory behind the "moons" orbiting Venus is that they're actually the space stations used to terraform the planet.↧

Well, after posting this we wound up losing our fourth game in a row so now I have the thing. We haven't used them just yet, given their extremely frustrating limitation.

It's more complicated than all of that, and I have some confidentiality issues I need to be mindful of. But, speaking generally, there are multiple pieces we need to deal with. The trademark is registered to Longshore, Ltd., a Chinese manufacturer, who is our publishing partner. The art and other artistic elements of the original game are subject to copyright, which is still held by Hasbro -- you'll notice we're not using any original art (which we avoid anyway as part of our restoration approach). Separately, there is the matter of the design of the pieces, such as Vul-Kar himself. Then, there is the issue of the game play. As many of you know, there isn't much in the way of protection for mechanics. However, we have always worked with the original designer as a matter of ethics separate from any legal obligation. We're happy that Bruce Lund is on board and has been happy with our approach.
All in all, it's much more interesting than the debt collection litigation I did for 20+ years before I started Restoration Games.

I'm a graphic designer so I know what goes into something like this for huffy bikes etc. but was never involved in games (that's why I house rule my games to the point some are completely different games using the same components. I designed an Asteroids themed game with a rotating board when I was a kid with poster board and crayola magic markers because my grandma was a buyer at a drug store to the point if I ever 'reproduced' it the art would be done in crayola magic markers lol)

Package 8 spoilers:[o]Bear in mind that they give you a benefit simply by being in the deck: you get 1.5 extra turns per game, and each Epidemic is delayed by an average of 0.3 turns.
If you ever really need to play one, I guess you'll know it![/o]

We lost twice in February and once in September. We had 125 population, no forsaken cities, and ended with a score of 885. We blew most of our end of game points on character upgrades and population. There were only 3 cities on the board that we never attached to the grid.We would have lost many more games if [o]the Hollow men gathers cards didn't prevent us from placing a cube[/o].
Great game. I enjoyed the first game more, but I felt the story and scoring was better here. I can't wait for S3!:)

I'm going to steal my own table from the Season 1 Final Score discussion and tweak it for my benefit.Worth noting is that I have screenshots from the board after every game (except after January because I forgot), I just don't have time to put them up now. Will update this with that later, maybe make my own thread about our experience with the game.
Final score: 851
(NOTE: We initially believed we had a score of 850, which is obviously a real kick in the sack because that's one point shy of the best ending, but we later realized that we forgot the boost Johannesburg's population during the final step. And I'm absolutely certain there wasn't a plague cube or Hollow Man there, so we just BARELY squeezed into the best ending)
Total players: 3
Win-lose count: 12-3
Failed Months: None (The only losses we had were Early July, Early September, and Early December)
Biggest loss streak: 1
Biggest win streak: 6 (January through June)
Opened box 8: No (Though we peeked once it became impossible to open it just to see what was inside, and we didn't use it, of course.)
Scratched Turning Point #2?: No
Labs found: 4/4
Cities Connected to the Grid: 44/46 (Missed Riyadh and Delhi)
Permanent Supply Centers: 5 (Denver, Johannesburg, Frankfurt, Cairo, Hong Kong)
Permanent Radio Towers: 4 (Buenos Aires, Cairo, Frankfurt, Hong Kong)
Permanent Bunkers: None
Forsaken Cities: None
At-One-Point Forsaken Cities: Istanbul, St. Petersburg, Tokyo, Santiago, Antananarivo (AKA, "Bananaville"), Jakarta, Manila)
Most used character: Shepherd Book, The Farmer (Used 14 games; all except for Early January)
Least used role: DJ "Rude", The Radio Operator (Only used in Early January. For the record, I wanted him to be named "Three Dog"); and Jon Snow, The Vector Control Expert (Used in Late December only)
Unused Characters: Argus Filch, The Sanitation Officer; The Oracle, The Administrator (Interestingly, The Dispatcher was an MVP of ours in season 1, but that was a 4 player game); Dexter, The Immunologist; and Dee Dee, The Scientist.
Character Deaths: 1 (Virgil, The Instructor. He was our carrier and drew the short straw because he had the Helmsman upgrade. This was also the player who ended up being the traitor in Season 1, so he was pretty salty that he ended up dying both games. You could see the color drain out of his face when he read the Pearl Lab card.)
Character Scars: 3 (Shepherd Book, Insomniac, which was replaced pretty quickly by Scout by using the Renewal Unrationed Event; Virgil, Fastidious and Carrier)
Did you scout North America in time?: Yes
Did you scout South America in time?: Yes
Did you scout Europe in time?: Yes
Did you scout Africa in time?: No
Did you scout West Asia in time?: Yes
Did you scout East Asia in time?: Yes
Did you defect the Hollow Men in time?: Yes
Did you complete The Plan in time?: Yes
Did you deliver the cure?: YES!
HAVEN NAMES:
(NOTE: I swear we didn't look at any story spoilers before this. We picked a theme, and it was a happy accident it worked out this way.)
NW Atlantic: Arkham
NE Atlantic: Azkaban
S Atlantic: Alcatraz
E Pacific: Purgatory
Indian: Iron Heights
W Pacific: Phantom Zone
Did you scratch That box (before the end of the game, since we all know we opened/scratched everything once the dust had settled)?: ...Yes. The designers can suck one.

Or you could go with the dry erase marker idea above... just color in over the search box, let the sleeve sit for a few days, and the dry erase won't erase so easily. When you do need to finally erase it, just draw over the colored box with another dry erase marker, and then you'll be able to erase it easily. (Learned this trick after cleaning up Telestrations pads people put back into the box unerased.)
Totally O.T. (but REALLY useful to know):
On whiteboards at least, that trick also works for permanent markers!
Useful when some clot has used a permanent flip-chart marker by mistake. Just draw over whatever they've done with a non-permanent one, and erase.

Box 6 spoiler[o]I found Box 6 quite difficult to use because you have to run around to use it, and if you use it too aggressively, you will have a very thin Infection discard. When there is an epidemic, you have a much higher chance of getting the bottom card[/o]

Thanks for the insight, Justin!I had just been curious because every now and then in recent years, Hasbro gets the random notion to reprint and re-release one of their older games. This past year, they re-released Crossfire as a Toys r' Us exclusive and they licensed out Clue: Master Detective to Winning Moves as a Barnes & Noble exclusive. And just last night at Walmart, I saw that they've dusted off Payday for a reprint.
I had just wondered if Fireball Island was ever on their radar for similar treatment.

For what it's worth, we ended up with this exact same situation in our June game last night.
I think there is a big difference between "we cycled through our entire infection deck" (which is rare but definitely possible) and "we effectively don't have any cards in our infection deck at all" which was the situation described by the OP where the only remaining cards were for forsaken cities. That scenario seemed quite difficult to obtain without a LOT of forsaken cities.
I'm curious how it worked out for OP, but suspect he's going to have a hard time.
I don't want to start a pointless squabble - but I don't see that the OP said that at all!?
He got down to 12 cards in his infection deck....we got down to 16. Probably meant we'd been a little more aggressive in our exploration, and equally as aggressive in our [o]innoculation[/o] But otherwise it seems the same.
I don't think he even mentioned forsaken cities? Different thread?

I don't want to speak to Hasbro's mindset. But I can tell you that there were some initial thoughts about making the game much smaller so it was cheaper and fit in a regular sized box. Of course, we thought that was precisely the wrong way to go.

Love the look of the pirate ship!!Now here's my question. In the description from the publisher, it said:
“...there has been some volcanic upheaval, an unprecedented explosion in our snake population, inexplicable tigers, giant spiders, new types of trees bent on ending human life, and a metric crapton of bees everywhere”
So we’ve got...
Snakes in The Last Adventurer expansion (check!)
Tigers and bees in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Bees expansion (check!)
So unless I've missed something...
what about these giant spiders?

The main map appears to have "spaces" where the adventurers stand, and which are counted when performing movement. I'm not seeing any defined "spaces" (except maybe on the ladders) of the pirate ship. Where do the pawns stand and how does movement work?↧
