So, the following is how it's supposed to work, step by step. Hopefully you can open spoilers one at a time until you work out what you've missed (if, indeed, you have missed something and not just got very unlucky) to avoid unnecessary spoilers...

Spoiler Box 1 - yes, we were doing this.
Spoiler Box 2 - yes, we found that one (only after spoilers though)
Spoiler Box 3 - yes, we did this, but only after a spoiler
Spoiler Box 4 - we have not seen any mention of this
Spoiler Box 5 - so instead of the Tomb # - where does it say this?
Spoiler Box 6 - great
Spoiler Box 7 - did not look at this spoiler - let's hope

Wow, that is a great help. I'm guessing we just missed all the implications of the advice given. Most of the paragraphs just seemed to be gibberish.

Thanks very much; maybe we can get this done in two more games.

If it hasn't been said a free app for SFX would be cool there's games out there that are like that and even add a game element. there's a game that looks like Indiana Jones you have to escape I can't remember what it is but it has more than theme music on your device. something along those lines.

As in title. We forgot the reminder token and forgot to Draw and complete the Alert on the back of the STOP card and open R U E S V, 29 36 33 31 16 after we resolved our 2nd Epidemic.

We lost the game for what it is worth.

Should we simply play Early April again with the few extra Panic levels that occurred in our loss? I cannot recall the exact number or locations of the Panic changes to the board.

Or should we just complete the Alert and open the doors indicated before we start Late April?

We are going to play this evening so I would love some ideas of what we should do to try to fix our mistake.

All the best, and thanks in advance.
Patrick

We will be able to store the components *IN* one of the 3 parts of the board? This will allow us to save space during storage and prevent our pieces from being lost or damaged.

I always felt like the original should have had that option considering how much empty space was under the board.

We haven't finalized storage or box organization yet, but that's definitely something we'll look at.

Would it be possible in a future version of the app to display the amount of money left on the page so there is no need to track it physically and make mistakes. We were about to win the game when the app said we lost since we most likely forgot to remove 1 or 2 times the $1000 for a private tip.

There is also no way to repeat the hints so we tracked them on paper instead.

The game I was thinking about was the Queen Games Escape Series that's an Indiana Jones temple co-op race theme that comes with a CD that has music but it's sort of like what I would call a musical chairs mechanism. They also make a Zombie themed variation.

https://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeksearch.php?action=search&o...

At the very least a free Fireball app could have thematic music (you'd have to create or find royalty free) such as jungle island drum music and ambient animal sounds. people do that for RPG's like D&D to set the mood.

For fun maybe when you drop a Fireball into Vul-Kar you first press an SFX button on your iPad or iPhone etc for SFX with louder music.

Other app controls for whatever mechanism you're using for movement and cards. use the app instead or use it to somehow enhance the real game. however there's something to be said for the tactile feel of a board game dice and cards.

And of course there's always a full Fireball Island game app to work on ; I've been playing Dead Man's Draw card game that way. It has a lot of free stuff but then you pay $2.99 or more to unlock features permanently. otherwise you win or lose to pile up points to unlock and re-unlock traits to aid in gameplay and add more variety. You also work your way thru different gameplay variations. not sure how much that costs them to produce but it's really well themed with very good SFX. and you can turn the music off ; just as aa brainstorm example. otherwise I don't play iOS games. heres' the card game with the iOS link https://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/149155/dead-mans-dra...

So let me ask something. Why is this person the runaway leader?

Valid questions. I don't know about the OP, but in our group, we also have a runaway. I think it's a mixed thing: one part it's he is efficient in aiming for milestones and hasn't been challenged. The second part is that he has claimed so many milestones and wins now that his advantages are too many. Directly challenging him or even raiding him would put whoever antagonizes him at a disadvantage. So we have an interesting problem here:

A is a runaway. B, C, D and E are all more or less on the same level. The only way to catch A, that I can see, is one or more of B through E attacking him (either raid or at least steal opportunities from him), but that would put whomever did it in last place. There is not enough to gain from aggressiveness in this game. So no one has an incentive to do it. Everyone would rather fight for second then catch the runaway and be last himself.

It's my main critic of Seafall right now, it's easy to have a runaway and he's hard to catch.

(Right now our runaway has double the income I have. If I put all my starting bonus in gold, I still have less then him, and he's other advantages still.)

How did you lose the game? If you had eight outbreaks, you've probably suffered enough.

Otherwise... (spoilers for those mid-April dossier flaps)
[o]...you might have played differently, and got more outbreaks, if you'd had to avoid getting scarred by the Faded. Maybe, just maybe, it would be fair to bump up the panic level in a city or two, but it's probably not worth bothering.[/o]

Jury out on legacy games

by Jon H.

If you have been reading this, you know I have been playing Pandemic Legacy: Season 2 with my Tuesday night group. Although I am enjoying the game, I am not sure how much staying power I might have. The thought came to me the other night when one of our members couldn't make it. I noticed I had a feeling, not really happiness but more like a sense of relief, that I was going to get to play something else. Maybe playing every week is too much and break is good every now and then.

I thought about that feeling on the way home after playing great games of Dragon Island, Five Tribes, and even Parfum. It finally registered. After pulling away the chrome of "tearing open packages" and "putting stickers on the board", the basic premise of the game is exactly the same each and every time. Yeah, there are some new areas, new cards, and a new power or two, but the game play and goals are practically identical every game. Yes, you can say this about any game, not just legacy games, but I think there is a difference. Maybe it's the fact that it's a co-op. Competitive games are unpredictable because you can't get inside your opponent's head. The AI in this is starting to feel a bit "samey" to me. Without spoilers, it's "do this thing every game and maybe one of these other things too." Granted, I would probably get bored with playing the same game with the same people every week regardless of the style so maybe it's just me.

Thoughts?

As an FYI to others reading this (probably too late), the spoiler boxes above don't refer to the usual box unlocks; they are all "Box 5" unlock spoilers.

@Jim, your question for Box 5 above: it says this in one of the unlocked rules on p.16 in your rulebook: [o]"pick an entry from the tomb map". You can choose any entry number on the map.[/o]

Also, the *only* key to ending the game is what's covered in the "Box 4 and 6" spoilers above. Everything else is interesting and/or useful and/or a side quest (for example, there are several other hints that can allow you to infer the info from "Box 6"), but not strictly necessary.

In any case, all I can think is that it was dumb luck you missed the "Box 4" rules. There are two advisors that should have given you that hint.

Here are their ranks, if you need the spoiler:
[o]18 and 27[/o]
It's possible you've seen their numbers but haven't looked further.

Here are which advisors they are, if you need the spoiler:
[o]18: Historian
27: Patriot[/o]

If you have growing little ones, friend, keep some. They grow up fast, and one day soon you will sorely wish you hadn't parted with it.

Okay - we read that early and did not then add it to our thought process once we learned of the hidden codes - that makes sense now.

We have seen these advisors and no one ever picked them. Our bad!

Thanks again, we might be on our way to the end!
