New here. Did not see the answer in any other posts. My question is about curing diseases that faded has spread to (just finished April). In my game, faded is red. If faded outbreaks and spreads to San Francisco (blue) can I still use the San Francisco card with other blue cards to cure the blue disease?↧

Yes, faded don't affect how you find cures for the other diseases, so you still use blue cards to cure blue, and yellow for yellow and black for black.
Lock those faded down! The world is at stake, don't you know?!

Session: SeaFall:: The Legend of the Four Provinces (Prologue and Game 1: Box 1 Spoilers)
Prologue:
The world is still largely undiscovered. But four islands have been found.
Spicy Superstition is a land of strange beliefs and very fiery spice. Japan is a strange land, largely unexplored and shrouded in mystery. Pyke is a chain of unforgiving rock known for their bountiful production of linens and silks. And upon Goldenman live a mysterious tribe with a penchant for wood and the worship of a golden deity.
I know our forefathers sacrificed their lives to bring us this scant knowledge of the lands before us. Ive been told many times that I bear a striking resemblance to the famed explorer of our people that fought harsh weather and cowardly betrayal to give us these precious bits of information. I've forged a new nation amongst the chaos that engulfed us after his death. The Greyjoy province will take what is rightfully theirs and pay the iron price. My newly completed fleet is ready to sail and claim the unknown.
(The Four Provinces)
Province of Greyjoy - Euron Greyjoy - Ships unnamed
Province of K-Town - KLG - Murano and Civic
Province of Havarti - Hidalga - Henrietta and Harrison
Province of Dixie - Thurgood Marshall - Monitor and Merrimack
Chapter 1:
The province of Havarti got off to a fast start, bravely exploring the isles of Japan and Spicy Superstition. But misfortune struck as Harrison's hold was damaged in the escape after a daring raid of Goldenman's goldmines. Undeterred, Hidalgo sought council from the Madman, who advised her to Go Big or Go Home. She sailed into Spicy Superstition with Good Omens to explore its deepest coves for the promise of glory and wonder. Only disaster awaited her. Hidalgo's flagship, Henrietta, was dashed against the merciless rocks of Spicy Superstition and sunk. The province of Havarti spent valuable resources to rebuild her only to see the rest of the provinces pull far ahead.
The province of Dixie faired much better under the wise direction of the Renowned Explorer. He led Thurgood Marshall's expeditionary forces deep into the island of Japan where they discovered a rich trove of spices. Word spread across the land of An Island Revealed by Thurgood Marshall's brave explorers. The unique experience would stay with Thurgood forever, giving him deep insights into the secrets of the world. Alas, all was not well. The Renowned Explorer was driven mad by what he found in the spice mines. Ravings of a mysterious "Arvada" poured from his lips. It will be much more difficult to pry useful advice from the Renowned Explorer's madness. With the their holds filled to the brim, Monitor and Merrimack threw caution to the winds and sailed home despite Thurgood's private desires to raid the Japanese island for everything it was worth. Sadly this would prove a costly miscalculation.
The province of K-town started slowly. KLG steadily acquired resources and, much to the dismay of Thurgood Marshall, built the finest market the four provinces had ever seen. The Master Trader visited K-town, drawn by the promise of an unparalleled selection of goods, and lavishly rewarded KLG for the wood, spice and iron her ships had acquired. With her newfound wealth and the sage council of the Foreman, KLG raised even more buildings in K-town. The Continent Awakened, elevating the K-Town's renown and making KLG's lands decidedly more glorious than any other. Her wealth also allowed her to buy extravagant treasures, drawing the dangerous envy of the province of Greyjoy.
The province of Greyjoy awoke with grand designs for glorious exploration. Euron sailed to the island of Pyke to procure valuable gold to prepare his ships and crew for an arduous journey. But as he schemed, word of Thurgood Marshall's bold exploits reached Euron's ears. Furious that he was not the first to discover the spice mines of Japan, the covetous Euron raced to claim what was rightfully his. Under the leadership of the Savage, the natives of Japan were eviscerated before the iron and smoke of Greyjoy cannons. The Japanese spice massacre made Euron notorious in the four provinces and despised on the island of Japan. But Euron knew notoriety was merely a form of renown. The Darkness Stirred in the Four Provinces.
Enron, never sated, eyed KLG's treasures greedily and plotted a sneak attack. But despite his best efforts, he could not formulate a single successful battle plan. Fortunately for him, Euron was visited by Madi, the Dockmaster. She divulged the location of cheap goods and a Renowned Merchant willing to purchase them. With the sudden influx of wealth, Euron purchased ostentatious iron statues. The Greyjoys threw an extravagant party to show off the Finest Treasures in all the land and put the province of K-town to shame. Word of the luxurious province of Greyjoy spread across the Four Provinces earning Euron even more acclaim and seeding the whispers of his position as the favorite Prince.
But the seas had not been still. The raids from the provinces reached the ears of the Pirate King. He attacked the Greyjoy province and kidnapped the Powder Monkey. Euron the Vengeful was quick to plot his revenge. He knew he must sail beyond the known world and into the dangerous waters of the deep sea if he is to find the Pirate King and bring him to his knees. Word reached him of strange phenomenon on the high seas, treasures and knowledge to be unearthed and rich new islands to discover. Euron knew that wherever he sailed, the other provinces would not be far behind.

by CptBlood
Note to new players. I 'cheated' first game and didnt notice that the home provinces have a red 5 difficulty. Dont forget that you take damage if you roll under that amount raiding those farms.Questions
1 - Raiding a ship counts as an Endeavor and grants a Glory?
2 - You can not attempt actions that you do not have enough Enmity to pay for. How does this affect Raiding a ship? If you only have one home Enmity can you damage a ship twice and take a Glory loss? If you have zero home Enmity to spend can you even attempt the ship Raid in the first place?
3 - I raided someones Province and MY ship sunk. Do you think this would allow the defending Province owner to claim the "Destroy a ship during a raid action" milestone?
4 - Does the Observatory let you look at the top of every deck all the time for the rest of the game?
5 - If you gain an upgrade (or anything) for free during some text do you gain the Glory?
6 - The appellation The Adventurous, 'When hiring the Explorers guild, you may pay 2 gold to use all three of their actions'. Can the player pay that 2 gold midturn or must he pay before taking any actions?
Thanks

Note: You take damage for rolling below on regular black sites (non-dangerous), the red (dangerous) sites mean that you cannot use Fortune tokens.
1 - Raiding a ship counts as an Endeavor and grants a Glory?
Yes
2 - You can not attempt actions that you do not have enough Enmity to pay for. How does this affect Raiding a ship? If you only have one home Enmity can you damage a ship twice and take a Glory loss? If you have zero home Enmity to spend can you even attempt the ship Raid in the first place?
If you control the site of the raid then you only ever place one enmity, so you could apply all successes as damage/plunder. If you do not have enmity tokens to give, you could still attempt the raid, but would not be able to apply successes and wouldn't gain Glory. You only gain enmity for a raid in which you plunder (and/or damage a ship). This is to prevent a player from raiding over and over and choosing not to plunder (therefore not placing enmity).
3 - I raided someones Province and MY ship sunk. Do you think this would allow the defending Province owner to claim the "Destroy a ship during a raid action" milestone?
I don't think so, as that player didn't take a raid action. I guess you could read the rules that way, but seems like they'd be stretching a bit.
4 - Does the Observatory let you look at the top of every deck all the time for the rest of the game?
That's the way that we've been playing it.
5 - If you gain an upgrade (or anything) for free during some text do you gain the Glory?
Yes.
6 - The appellation The Adventurous, 'When hiring the Explorers guild, you may pay 2 gold to use all three of their actions'. Can the player pay that 2 gold midturn or must he pay before taking any actions?
It says "when hiring", hiring takes place before taking guild actions, so I'd say no.

Thanks! We are enjoying this game a lot so far (although we are only two games in), but it does seem the rules need a fair amount of clarification. I wonder if this is because of the legacy aspect, there is more pressure to get the rules exactly right straight off the bat since you can't go back and redo...↧

2. Where do I find the rules that when a ship sinks with a relic on it it will be put back in the Seachest and marked LOST?[/o]

We've been playing those appellations to mean 'When you've hired the --- Guild', so you can decide to use the third action at any point during your actions phase, not that the decision has to made when you decide to hire the guild.

Yeah, rule ambiguity has been one of the major complaints when it comes to this game. I would suggest printing out the first post of Captain's Log

I would absolutely say yes. They sunk your ship and it was during a raid action. The milestone doesn't say it has to be during their own raid action. When I saw this milestone I immediately believed it was worded such that either side could benefit. And thus it was a deterrent to raiding provinces with a weak dice pool or already damaged ship.

I do wonder if you thought sufficiently laterally about how to do what you needed, though. You get the month's mission briefing at the start of setup so can focus quite carefully on what you're trying to do. Maybe you want to have someone play the Operations Expert so they can build the military base without discarding the city's card? Maybe the Soldier, or a Flexible character, or a Rival, could recover the city's card after you've used it to build the base. Is a Drone Escort a better way to get into the city? And so on.[/o]

It was basically some poor planning on our part. We had one new player (and in fact he was new to Pandemic) that we thought we could "coach". Just a distraction we didn't need.
[o]
Our Operations Expert was the traitor, so we couldn't have used him. I forget what Drone Escort is, so I'll make sure to look that up before the next game.

The Booke entry tells you to go in player turn order, starting with the player on the left of the person who discovered the island.
The "missing a game" rules tell you to set the player's stuff up so they can still be raided if needed to progress the game.
From this, I would just insert the missing player in the appropriate place in turn order and have their enmity applied there.
If they would need to cover another player's enmity, the group will have to come to some arrangement on how that happens.
