I feel for you Arthoras, but as Lee said above - being a gamer isn't that expensive, but being a collector is - I came into the CMON stuff a bit late, too, and have been playing catch-up for the past few years with CDMD, Zombicide: Invader and Massive Darkness (1&2) (I had drawn the line at Zombicide (2nd Ed) and then the evil cusses had to release the Monty Python expansion to Zombicide and started me on that set as well).

I have come to grips with it at this point; I don't need ALL of the content (50%-75% is fine) and I can proxy where suitable . I've, also, found that a 3d printer is cheaper than some of these eBay purchases and I can buff the game well beyond the stretch goals with a bit of creativity - mine or others <vbeg> - to enhance the experience.

I seem to remember this was asked when the game was first released and unfortunately I think the answer was it was not possible.

But hopefully someone has since found a solution

Some more hopefully helpful tips for noobs:

Feint prevents all text effects, but leaves the value intact. "Ignore the value" tells you to treat the final (un)modified value as 0 when calculating damage (but it retains the value for other checks) but doesn't touch text effects. Even if there is no printed text effects on a card it can still be considered cancelled (sorry Arthur).

Character abilities are never cancelled! (Arthur has a special clause that tells you what to do if the attack card is cancelled.) Jill Trent has a card that can suppress them. They still trigger, just fail to make a change due to a previously resolved effect that says no changes allowed. I mention this because IM has a card that was designed before card wording was rigidly codified and often causes confusion. His card Impossible to See states: "The value of your opponent's attack or defense is 0 and cannot be changed by card effects." Here "card effects" refers to played combat cards and does NOT prevent character ability cards from their normal function. This has been replaced by "ignore the value" which allows changes to be made but just disregards the result in final calculation.

Combats are one complete action no matter how many timing windows have effects in them. In Battle of Legends 2 there are double attacks where the after combat effect is to trigger another full combat after the first is fully resolved, they are not nested actions.
Here is the full combat timing breakdown:
Attacker begins combat by announcing attacking and defending fighters.
Attacker commits a legal attack card facedown.
Defender may commit a legal defense card facedown.
Reveal committed card(s)
Defender's immediately effect
Attacker's immediately effect
Defender's during combat effect
Attacker's during combat effect
Calculate damage; attack - defense = damage (treat negative result as 0)
Luke Cage further reduces damage by up to 2. Do not practice this as 2 extra "defense" that is incorrect!
If any damage dealt then attacker won combat, if no damage dealt then defender won combat. (This is a binary state if an effect switches whether you won/lost it also switches that the other fighter lost/won)
Defender's after combat effect (Luke Cage and Hamlet have "End the turn" effects here that will skip the rest of the combat windows)
Attacker's after combat effect
Discard combat cards (do this even if this window is skipped)
Defender's after defending effect (Dr. Strange, Shakespeare)
Attacker's after attacking effect (Angel, Achilles, Cloak & Dagger, Deadpool, Dr. Strange, Robin Hood, Shakespeare, Wayward Sisters)

Some fine points about combats:
Once cards are committed the combat is happening and will resolve all uncancelled effects. End of game is checked before and after each action. If both teams lose their heroes during the same action the team currently taking their turn wins.
Combat cannot be cancelled. Even if the attacker dies during the Immediately step damage is still calculated and applied.
Fighters are removed from the board and defeated the moment their health is at or below 0. Defeated fighters cannot gain health. (resurrection effects will tell you where to place them and what to set their health to)
Some effects that require adjacency or zone cohabitation may not have an impact if one of the fighters is no longer on the board, but they still technically happen.
Double attacks will still happen even if the target moves out of range during the first combat. The second attack doesn't happen in the following scenarios: Either attacker or defender are defeated, the after combat effect that triggers the bonus attack is cancelled, the game ends.

The full combat breakdown is on page 13 of the Core Rules that are included in every set from Tales to Amaze on (Sun's Origin, Slings & Arrows).

Abilities that happen after attacking or defending happen in the "Additional Effects" window. So an "End the turn" effect that happens in After Combat will skip the Additional Effects window, this includes both Wayward Sisters' spell casting and Shakespeare's adding the combat card to his line. The Sisters still get their card to their cauldron because that is a static effect that happens instead of discarding no matter what.

Most, if not all, of the Elder Gods say "When the Elder God advances YOU.." and then something bad happens to you. For example, if it's Hastur, it says You get a yellow sign token. Is You only referring to the player who's turn it was when the Elder God Advanced? Or referring to all players.

The first game I thought we all started with a star and a missile per the rules.
I won one game. Do I get two missiles? (No star).

Below I cut and pasted a section of the RB

PLAYER SET UP
Players start each game with either:
A Red Star token or 1 or more Missile tokens
If you haven’t signed the victor’s section of the board (you sign that when you win a game),
take a Red Star token.
If you have signed the victor’s section, take one Missile token for every time your name is
on that area of the board. See page 11 for more details on Missiles.

Based on reading the rules above, you should not have started game 1 with a missile AND a star. Game 1, each player should have started with a Star. Once a player wins and signs the board, they no longer get a star, but they get a missile for each time they sign the board.

I thought that might be the case, as I vaguely recall it being asked before.

You need the shooting symbols too. I don’t have them handy as I’m up in the mountains right now, but if someone wants to share, that’s fine.

That would be great!
I can reach out on the Restoration Games Discord if you think that's better?

Someone could definitely help you there.

Hey there gamers, spoiler for September here:

Does anyone know what happens if you didn’t find the Paranoid soldier by the end of September? Do we keep looking for him in October as an objective? Or is that just abandoned?

Thanks!

Thank you again for your quick responses. I suspect I'll be posting new questions in the coming days, weeks and months because there is a lot of information to take in and then disseminate to my kids.

The Legacy deck will tell you when to destroy or change any objectives, and I'm pretty sure it hasn't done that yet. Until then, you should keep that objective (and the search card), so you can keep trying to find the soldier!

Joe's is "When you shoot, you may reroll the shooting die."

And HMG is "When you shoot with this car, you may reroll the shooting die."

I can only imagine there are 18 cards per player, the shooting die has six faces so that the cards have the same distribution frequency.
It shouldn’t matter which shooting symbol goes on what card so one could mix them up or put all three S shooting die faces on the “one” cards, , the three “Any” on the 6 etc etc
