Personally, I would be in favor of a house rule that says you can sacrifice yourself to weapon which requires lowering an already critical trait. I think such an action meshes well with the theme of Betrayal.

Tiles are indeed small compared to minis...is that a problem? Most of the time no, but when it happens it's just silly to see all those Cultists and Monsters placed everywhere in and around those small rooms.
The Black Goat skyrockets the problem, during last game Rasputin died in a small square room with the Black Goat, 4 Dark Youngs, 2 Hunting Horrors and 2 Cultists...basically everyone except for the Elder One and Rapsutin was placed outside of the map :D

While I totally agree with the others and also bought everything except this I would still like to hear an opinion from someone who got it (and maybe a playthrough video...)

Same here. I still don't see the value in it myself but would like to hear from someone that's actually played with it.

Hello! Can anyone provide the main strength/weakness and most beneficial playstyle for each character? I have several friends coming over today to play for the first time and I want everyone to have a "scouting report" about the characters so they can utilize their own and prepare the best they can against their opponent.

So, for example,

KING ARTHUR
Strength: 1v1 opponent
Weakness: Aggressive opponent and sidekick
Playstyle: Patient offense with KA and combat aggression with Merlin

Thank you! I'm very curious to see what everyone thinks in regards to general strategy.

I'll pitch in!

SINBAD (since I designed his deck)
Strength: Mobility, card draw, versatility
Weakness: Early game
Playstyle: Slow play, build up a hand, use the Porter to run interference until you're powered up, leverage massive late-game movement advantage

Just like memories and nostalgia, electronic toys from the 70's and 80's were faulty, unreliable and they definitely got worse over time. They were not built better than today.

Don't know how old you are, but this isn't true. The simple fact that games like Dark Tower (I also still have the old D&D electronic games from the 80s) do still work today is proof of that. You can still buy working copies of them, and other vintage stuff, all over eBay that work perfectly. Inevitably, they will fail someday, no doubt.

StewiesMom wrote:

When it comes to boardgames and even most consumer electronics specifically, the quality and durability is much much better today than it was when Dark Tower came out (with a few exceptions, though the Dark Tower is not one).

Board games maybe, but not electronics. Ever own a Dell?
There are examples that support both opinions, but hey, you do you.
There's no binary here, so don't simply tell me I'm wrong.

Also I know exactly where I am, in a discussion with multiple people where it's very easy to misquote others when someone is having a self-righteous rant. So, respectfully, maybe, probably, you should back up just a bit and look around before quoting people incorrectly.

Self-righteous rant? You consider my prior post a rant?
You're either not aware of what a rant truly is, or you may need to take a break from the forums if that's how you read it. I've ranted before and, believe me, that ain't it. Also, where was my misquote?
You made assumptions and took a little jab, and so did I. Deal with it.

Oh, and take your own advice about backing up a bit.
When you are condescending and inflammatory, then you can expect some of it in return. We're adults (I assume), so no need for "safe-spaces" or anything. I won't re-type my entry that was removed, but will state, in a nicer way: opinons vary.

I think our group houseruled such a case for a particularly cinematic moment, sacrificing one's self so that the rest of the heroes could succeed on their objective. In our case, the heroes all surviving was not part of the win condition, so the sacrifice wouldn't hamper anyone either. I think it's fair to take this approach, because it's good story, and because having one of the heroes die like that can be a bit of a setback, even if their death accomplished some other important objective.

Right! I JUST opened the season 2 box last night to finally start digging into the next batch of episodes and was surprised to find EVEN MORE investigators! They are never ending!

If it ain't red, it ain't a cultist.

Exactly. You can easily tell them apart based on their color. Red = Cultists, Gray = Monsters.

The progression of Sinbad is crazy. Those voyage cards can be INSANE.

Edit:-------in a good way. Sinbad was the best surprise of the game for me, great fun to play as or against.

I did end up backing for it. It is only 1 Scenario, I'm sure there could be different ones made, but the scenario has your randomly choose 2 monsters to be put into play (there are cards with stats etc for the 7 different monsters in order to choose them randomly) and the scenario looks to be pretty brutal. You have to play it with 5 characters no matter how many people are playing, it actually says that in the rules. Also, not to spoil anything, but there is a sacrifice that has to be made in order to Kill the Giant C'thulhu. I haven't played it yet, but have read over the rules a couple of times and looked at some of the cards, etc... I'm planning on playing this Final Episode next week on Wednesday at game night. I'll let ya know in a week if it is crazy fun... I'm sure it will be... brutal... but fun.

Except Elder Ones, which are gray but not Monsters :D

We like to think of it as firing blindly through the walls or out of a doorway. Thematic to us in a terrified sort of way, but some of the walls in the game are clearly stone so not as much theme there.

I'm happy that worked out well for you, but this BGG member would heartily disagree (regarding Runewars minis):

Not all minis are created equally - that's been my point all along.
Runewars minis also always left a faint oily residue on my fingers while handling/assembling them. They are a softer plastic mini much like what I described with Cthulhu Wars.

The advice is all out there, so proceed as you will everyone.

Every character is equally overpowered! That's a lot of fun of the game. These legends really feel legendary to use and fight against.
