Does anyone have a recommended combination or order to play the episodes? Should you just start with S1E1 with Cthulhu? What will get the other players most hyped for future games? (I'm playing with 5 players on Friday if that matters; hoping for it to go as smooth as possible)↧

Glad I backed it last year and got a 230 pledge. That 1 more episode only cost a little over 100 for me I figure, and has a re-sale value more than double that. Going to finally play this game tonight. Might even try to take down giant C'thulhu if there is time.↧

There is no real order. The scenarios don't relate to each other in any way so just playing the one you want with the Elder you want is the way to go.I played my first game last night with three other players using S1E1 and Cthulhu. We had a blast. We just managed to squeak out the win with one investigator death. It took us just under three hours.

Storywise there is no order. As for difficulty, scenarios 5 and 6 seem harder than 1-4.As for the Elder Ones: Dagon and The Black Goat are top difficulty, followed by Cthulhu, then Hastur. Yog-Sothoth seems the easiest by a fair margin.

The game isn’t called Hastur Death May Die...I think the episodes get progressively more complicated but none of them are crazy complicated. You could just read the flavor text and pick the one that seems fun and pair it with the old one of your choice.

I just wanted to say that the automated update works now more or less (I think I still have to open the chart for it to update, but I don't have to do anything, just open it).Also I added a few charts with the number of games for the episodes versus GOOs / number of investigators.
It looks a bit messy right now with all that information, sorry for that, but there is a lot to learn I think.
I also added a graph with the number of games logged by date. A lot of people contribute by logging their games, I am very happy about this, I never would have thought we would get enough plays logged to be able to make such a deep dive. Side note - you can see from the spreadsheet I have no way to find out who logged what, it is totally anonymous.
So keep logging those games, especially if you are not playing Season 1 Episode 1 with 2-3 players against Cthulhu. No one has logged a play against the garden gnome yet...

For example: are all the cthulhu cards the same source? or each stage is a different source? so you receive 1 sanity and then 2 more at the end of each turn cause of cthulhu cards, then reduce them to 0 and 1, or do you receive 3 in total and reduce it to 2?I find toughness very broken if you do it the first way :S

AFAIK every time you receive damage it applies. Yes it is overpowered. You can be immune to cultists etc this way.↧

Is there any final word on this? I had the thought that maybe the card at one point said "remove [...] from your city" instead, in which case it would make a bit more sense (but should probably still say the base). Even if you would go for "rules as written" the card doesn't strictly specify that it can be any base either. I think I will go for the "local only" ruling.Also, the sabotaging is supposed to be free except for the card, right?
