Thread: Betrayal Legacy:: Rules:: Many many Haunt 28 questions.

Just played through this haunt and while it was kind of a fun idea it really seemed like they did a much worse job than normal of explaining the rules. There were at least two or three things in the rules that we never did figure out and we kind of didn't finish the haunt properly because it came down to "If this is the rule the traitor wins, but if that is the rule the hero win."

So first off:

[o]What happens when a hero who is carrying the concoction comes across the conventionally dead body of an inhabitant or another hero? Or for that matter the body of the traitor?

We had multiple occasions where a reanimated inhabitant attacked a hero on the monster turn, but lost the fight and then died. But it's the same question if the hero just attacks and kills an inhabitant through some conventional means.

So then on the hero's turn they can't do their concoction speed attack to permanently kill the inhabitant because it's already dead. (The traitor hasn't had a chance to reanimated it again yet.) That doesn't seem right. Why can't I inject my syringe of zombie killing serum into a corpse but only into the one that's fighting back? I assume you can somehow kill them because otherwise it's possible for the haunt to become unwinable if the traitor simply never re-reanimated that particular inhabitant. Looks like some people have house ruled that you can use the "Destroy the Reanimated" speed attack on a dead corpse.
[/o]

Also there it sort of seems like there's an error in the Traitor's Tomb, but I'm unclear:

[o]How exactly does one go about killing the traitor? You can't initially use the "Destroy The Reanimated" speed attack against the traitor because the traitor isn't a Reanimated (yet). If you just kill the traitor normally, it appears that the traitor dies, and then when the traitor's turn rolls back around they are automatically reanimated. Ok, great.

But the Traitor's Tomb clearly says "You do not reanimate if you are killed by a hero carrying a vial of the concoction." It doesn't say you can't reanimated if you were killed by a hero who USED the concoction. It says carrying. So in our game the traitor got killed by a hero who used a sanity attack from an Omen card and who was carrying around a vial of the concoction. (The traitor had way more speed than this hero, so attacking with speed seemed like a waste of time to them.) That was fine, cause the traitor was still alive at the time, so still had a sanity, so that should be a legit attack. Is the traitor permanently dead then? Or does the traitor come back and can only be killed permanently by the "Destroy the Reanimated" speed attack, after they are initially killed conventionally? The later interpretation kind of makes more sense thematically, but if that's the case it's a tad frustrating as the Tomb VERY clearly says something else.

Also, what happens if the traitor is dead (even perma-dead), but there are still some reanimated running around? I assume you just keep playing with the reanimated inhabitants fighting the remaining heroes or whatever?
[/o]

Finally on the inhabitants thing:

[o]We gathered from other posts that the Traitor is in fact allowed to reanimate dead inhabitants as well as dead heroes. That makes sense. But does this only apply to those inhabitants that started out as reanimated during the haunt setup? Or to all inhabitants? All 3 of ours were in play when the haunt started and it was a 4-player game so two were reanimated at the beginning of the haunt and one was just hanging out as a regular inhabitant. That seems to be the setup instructions.

Our traitor ended up going and killing the 3rd inhabitant conventionally and then reanimating it to get a 3rd minion. I assume that's ok? It seems kind of powerful, but I guess it's fine.[/o]

Anyway, still mostly enjoying the game, but really curious how everyone else dealt with this haunt!

I’m asking the same question in May. Should I still have the mandatory build 3 supply centers objective in play? Or is it possible I was instructed at some point to remove it?

I had to go to my desktop to get the comments. No help there. Nothing else from CMON. Just fans. So all we have to go on are those meaningless hashtags. How helpful in trying to buy this when it comes out

It is just a teaser... the comic book will probably not come out before the retail version is out, so still many weeks ago. There will be more info about it when you can buy it.

My guess - you will have the comic, a mini and a character sheet and no scenario because those require a lot more material and work. So the comic book story won’t relate to a scenario unless they used an existing scenario.

Good luck on the holder. I attempted designing something similar to what you described and gave up. Granted, I was trying to make something that went in the actual box and not something separate but still. To this day I just have all components dumped loose in the box.

What William said. It's a massive project, and we want to make sure we put our best foot forward with the KS. And once you get past October, Kickstarters are difficult in November and December for a number of reasons. So it will be early next year, and we'll have a more definitive date soon.

I'll definitely let you know what I come up with. I know it's not going to fit in the original game box though, as I can barely get the original game boards and Crimson Cutlass board in there by themselves. Ideally I'd like a cool-looking crate with handle(s) to organize/carry everything else.

It'll be worth the wait!

Thread: Pandemic Legacy: Season 1:: General:: Concurrent plays of Season 1 and 2?

Curious to hear from others who have played both - is there spoiler potential for playing them concurrently?

Ny Season 1 group (2 player) just finished April, so we're still very much in the beginning of things. I'd like to start Season 2 with a larger group (4 player, with my partner from the first group present as well), but spoilers are a worry.

Overblown fear?

Thanks.

There are things in S2 that refer back to S1, but, since S2 is set some 70-odd years after a major disease outbreak ravaged the world, references are old records and rumours, rather than eyewitness accounts or direct spoilers.

So long as you progress through S1 at least as fast as you go through S2, it's unlikely that you'll run into any significant spoilers, though you may miss Easter eggs as a result.

Fair warning: it's been quite some time since I played S2, and even longer since S1, so I may be forgetting something.

I have not finished Season 2 (am at August), but it seems like it is fine from a spoilers perspective.

However I would be a bit concerned about keeping rules straight between the two. With Season 1, it is actually good to occasionally re-read the rulebook (with all the new rules) to be sure you aren't missing something (because that is so easy to do!). Season 2 has some similar mechanisms but they also work very differently. However Season 2 does a better job of putting new rules in places where you are more likely to see it when needed, so there is that.

It is probably doable, just be sure to always follow the rulebook for setup and game end instructions (both games).

I have this crate from The Broken Token and I really like it.

It holds everything except the game board from the Spider Springs expansion, which was developed after the crate was released.

The Broken Token told me that they are in the process of designing an upgrade to accommodate the board.

It's expensive (costs more than the base game) but it's worth it.

Amanda, that's actually a really good point. We've already found the rules a bit fiddly, so perhaps a delay might be in order (or, perhaps I'll just bring these other two into our current Legacy campaign? Mayhaps).

Yeah I considered the BT crate early on, as people seem to be pleased with it. But ultimately I decided to reappropriate that money to upgrading the game itself (expansions, custom tokens, marbles, etc).

If I had laser cutting capabilities I'd design my own large crate that holds the game boards like theirs. But alas I'm currently limited by the size of my 3D printer bed (without getting crazy with gluing/constructing).

The story part that we found had the most impact in season 2 would not be nearly as important if you haven't finished season 1, and you may not even notice the significance. I'd suggest, if the story is important to you, that you finish season 1 before starting season 2.

Waiting on Season 2 would be safest bet.

Yeah, I was going to say, if you think they would have interest in joining your Season 1 campaign, no reason not to. You would just have to bring them up to speed on the new rules (y'all are only at April, that's not too bad. Mwahaha...), and the cadence of managing 4 characters is more challenging than 2. But I say go for it!

Did not play this particular haunt, but a few points.

Monsters usually do not get killed by conventional attacks only stunned unless the haunt specifically states that they can be killed, and usually a method that can be used. I think you can attack a stunned monster, and IIRC the stunned monster does not defend?

If that is so it answers your first question.

For your second question: theme is not rules.
Therefore the rules say A happens when B occurs it is in fact A happens when B occurs.

Second part of second question - Usually monsters need to be defeated too. Unless the haunt states differently.

Your final question/spoiler seems to be consistent with the rules that what the traitor did was OK.
