I started playing with my 3.5 year old son with just drawing cards and then added in other elements so now we basically are playing the full game except we keep our cards face up (mostly so I can make suggestions for him, especially as it comes to souvenirs and some extra effects like rolling boulers.

The biggest variant we use (besides only playing one character each when playing two player) is every time a cataclysm is played, another marble is added to the scar.

Strategically, he wants to collect the cool treasures and roll marbles so he's not always thinking through what would be the best move to make. But he's under 4 so I'm just happy he'd rather play Fireball Island than Candyland.

the problem is that after collecting treasure tokens, you must keep them hidden, leaving at sight only the green grass back!

Yeah, but why though? It says that you always choose yourself which treasure you give up, so why would it matter if they're face up or down in front of you?

because in this way your opponents cannot know how many points you'll make with treasure tokens at the end of the match!

Well, this seems to have just happened to me but with Gaia Project. The seller sold it to me for about $12 or so less than street price. It was shipped directly from Asmodee (with $37.16 in 3 day shipping added). I contacted Asmodee and Ebay. Asmodee asked for basic information about the sale and I have to say I was a bit disappointed in Ebay's response. Essentially they said there was nothing wrong with my transaction on ebay. I ordered. I Paid. They shipped. Transaction done. No extra money taken out from me, nothing they can do. They said the next move is for me to contact the seller and for the (lady's stolen) credit card company to deal with it. I think who will get stuck holding the bag here is the credit card company once the poor woman who's credit card was stolen realizes it. Asmodee did not ask for the game back, and I guess from their perspective it has been paid for and shipped. I'm sure I'll hear from her credit card company eventually on this.

No tile I have has directions to summon hell?

[o]You likely missed the instructions for placing a sticker on a tile after one of the haunts. I believe Door 4 of the Folium Infernum has the sticker you need. If that door is still in the Folium Infernum, check and see if it is the "Chasm" tile sticker. You would have placed this sticker over the tile that had the Portal Token on it during that haunt.

I would be careful to read everything as clearly as you can for the future, by the way.[/o]

Quick question: "If the guess is correct, write in the letter in any blank that it appears."
Does this mean if a hero guesses "e" and the "e" appears 3 times the Traitor has to fill all 3 of the blanks or just 1 of them?

---

My first idea was that the Traitor cannot be attacked. The problem is (if the traitor created a word or phrase with 12 letters) a hero has to guess at least 12 times (based on the question above maybe 2-3 guesses less). This means the Traitor has ~12 turns to kill the Heroes. With 5 heroes there is a chance to survive for some of them, but if you are playing with 2-3 heroes I don't think there is any.

Yeah, most 12 letter words are going to have multiple same letters, but aren't the players also able to simply guess their words? If your word was 'Board Gaming', you'd probably guess a vowel like A or O in your first or second turn. In 5 turns you could easily have something like this: _oar_ _a_in_ or if you got lucky boa__ gam__g, where you might instead choose to solve the riddle or at least take a stab at it.

I think it would be fine. Longer words don't necessarily make things harder, honestly I'd say longer words are more easily identifiable once you have a couple letters plugged in than many four letter words.

One resolution would be, say, a 10 letter limit, but again, I say it's fine, larger words are not necessarily more difficult than smaller words.

Another thing is, the game is giving quite a bit of power into the hands of the traitor player here by letting them make up any words they want as a hangman game. I think it should be understood that you're playing a game to have a good time with friends, and not to be an unfair jerk, so adding a note like 'any hidden word must be something that individual is familiar with'. If you aren't sure, please don't pick the name of an obscure historical figure for example.

There is a very good reason thematically why it counts towards the checkbox :) enjoy your haunts :P[/o]

I have noticed that one of my cards is missing.

The Occultist Calling Card has disappeared into the ether. Maybe it decided to walk into the light, I don’t know. Can someone post the text? I never got to use it, and I am bummed. I guess I can fashion a new one.

Are replacement cards an option for purchase after the campaign? I’m not sure if this calling survives the story...

Thanks!

Thread: Betrayal Legacy:: Rules:: Drawing the Metorite Omen for the first time in the campaign?

This omen card is very oddly worded.

First of all, when the haunt revealer took the card, there were NO ghosts on the tile, so does that mean they don’t actually gain a mutation when they drew the Metorite?

It says they gain a mutation when they draw it, but can they roll dice to change their mutation when they get to a tile with ghosts?

Otherwise the Omen card is voided in our case.

The side goal says we can learn more about the Metorite to check boxes and alter the mutations, so I would assume you can choose to mutate again in the middle of the haunt?

I would just like clarification on how this omen card really works?

[o]Occultist
I study that which I fear.

On your turn, you may add 1 to the result of all trait rolls you make on tiles with at least one ghost.[/o]

I don't have the card, but I know the potential journal entries:

[o]82 and 86. 82's flavortext looks like it's supposed to be indoors, so you could say that one if it's inside, 86 if it's outside.[/o]

I have a question about the Otherworlds Gate stickers (I assume that’s what the orange stickers are called on Runestone tiles.)

The stickers mention “for each filled in circle.”
I don’t recall ever being told to mark them, or even remotely seeing anything that would give us the option to mark them during the final haunt and chapter.

Obviously this Legacy game ends up with a custom game, but did we miss a rule or just happen to not encounter any situation for filling in the sticker spaces?

Finished awhile ago. I thought we were instructed by a card to fill them. Can’t remember

My group made the same mistake. When the gates first get added, there were two event cards that were supposed to be added as well, Abyssal Gate and Infernal Gate (I think that's what they were called). They trigger on any floor and either add a mark to an active gate in the house or take sanity damage if you can't. Given their "all floors" status, odds are at least one would've triggered at some point in your campaign.

We haven't decided what we're going to do about filling them in post-campaign, as those events get destroyed at the end.
