No, wee only bet on one car each at each betting line. I just mean the cars she has bet on have always finished the race in first or second place.

Although if you read all the journal pages and city searches there are enough clues long before that for you to work it out. It certainly didn’t come as a surprise for us.

Yes, thank you, looked a few times, though I've never seen anything in my area. Also, I fear it wouldn't be the same even if I got lucky and found fellow Scape fans/events nearby. Fields of Valor was the last time I played -- Cyprien, etc. Don't know about these kids and all their newfangled D&D stuff, and also would probably be ill-prepared for the usual squadscape I know most enjoy, given my limited hero-heavy collection. Subsequently, most of my time on Heroscapers is spent nostalgically reading through decade old messages. Again, a sad face emoticon is in order here, though I'll refrain.

Many solo (and, by extension coop) games are just timers, anyway. The earliest solo rules were the lame "beat your high score", although a timer can be created exactly that way. Play the game a few times until you reach an efficient number of turns or points, then set the timer to end the game at that many turns and require a certain amount of points. The tricky (and interesting) part of design are how you push back the timer through, say, sacrificing VP's or resources that could be used elsewhere, as well as how creatively you implement the timer. (Zombie and other coop combat games replace an explicit timer with increasing odds and limited resources. Forbidden Island's timer is the sinking island.) So, for Fireball Island, the timer would be how soon until the island erupts. Perhaps within that timer, you'd need to accomplish certain objectives.

Okay that makes sense. Yes paying to much for a car is definitely a mistake. Everyone in my group has realized this too and pretty much just bets the lowest amount they have too. I guess we've just over played this game. I still like it to play with my non gamer friends, but my groups goto racing game is flamme rouge now over this. New maps will definitely revive it though.

By the Numbers - The RockyMountainNavy Collection: Thematic Games

As of March 22, 2018 I own 616 games. But just how "good" of a collection is that? Playing around with the Advanced Search function on BoardGameGeek, I looked at the top 100 games in eight categories - Abstract, Children's, Customizable, Family, Party, Strategy, Thematic, Wargames, and Overall. For each category I looked at how many I own and what I think it tells me about myself as a gamer. (Rankings are as of March 22, 2018)

THEMATIC (5%)
12. Star Wars: Imperial Assault
21. Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game
72. Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie
77. BattleLore
96. Nexus Ops

Another interesting BGG category. Should this be called "Thematic" or "IP?" I think I see the intent of the category; games that are reflective of the theme of the setting. Truth be told, I am finding these BGG categories to be too random and unhelpful. I mean, look at 878: Vikings – Invasions of England. Categorized as Educational, Medieval, Wargame, I would argue that it should also be Thematic given how closely it reflects the Vikings theme. Maybe the biggest lesson learned in my By the Numbers posts are that the numbers are actually pretty irrelevant given the broadly (un)defined categories.

In the aftermath of the past few Di$ney Star Wars movies I am turned off to the franchise so games like Star Wars: Imperial Assault just don't grab my attention these days. I love the concept of Battlestar Galactica: The Board Game - a cooperative traitor game - but find it hard to get to my family gaming table. Heroscape Master Set: Rise of the Valkyrie is not played as a game these days but parted out as terrain or figures for other games. BattleLore is a recent rediscovery and will likely land on the table more often. Nexus Ops has seen better days and, IMNSHO, has been surpassed by many more recent games. Frankly, I am surprised to see it ranked on BGG as highly as it is.

Hi all. I love the original Pandemic. I am also blind. I can play the original game because we can share information and players can help me. I am interested in the Legacy game. However, is there any secret information among the players, like the terrorist from In the Brink expansion? Or does Legacy work just like the original game? No spoilers, please. Thanks for the help!

There is no hidden information throughout, everything is public knowledge. However, there is a considerably larger amount of state to convey and track by the latter stages of the campaign. If Pandemic is easy enough and you play more complex games already in the same manner (for example, games around the weight of Eldritch Horror) then you'll be fine.

I hope you can make it work for you!

Hi Chris,
there's no such secret information in Pandemic Legacy Season 1 like the terrorist.
All information is shared among participants.
So if you're OK with playing the original Pandemic, you'll also be OK with the Legacy version.

It's a great experience, wish you a lot of fun!

Hello, just wondering if there's any compiled list of searched player card effects. Our group is curious but we don't want to scratch our non-searched cards.

Thanks! ❤

Great game with very helpful forums but its grown so large that finding answers has become difficult and many times, contradictory.
My question:
I'm raiding a green ship in an open sea space. I remove dice from my Raid attempt for each enmity of mine in their At War section, province board, and home harbor (in addition to their Sail/Raid value). I also have enmity on an island where green is the owner of a colony there. "The governor controls the sea space where the colony located." Is that island enmity counted and thus also removed from my Raid pool?
Thanks!

I had a very bad first experience with the app in the co-op mode. It was frustrating because I think that it would be a fun way to play with my kids our first time and it was a flop I worry they won’t want to try it again.
The main issue I had was that the clues could not be replayed and were not stored for you to look back on. So if we missed it then we were toast. Is that supposed to be that way in coop mode? I didn’t see anything in the rules to say to expect that difference. I also thought it was hard to get to the rules for reference while you were in the middle of the game.

Also what is referenced whennif gives you “6th street” or “8th street”? I didn’t see the streets labeled. If it’s supposed to be labeled by the numbers on the street then it’s not really a street but 2 sides of a block. Am I missing something?

No, that enmity is never counted... that is your enmity against the island, not any colony there.

You do subtract dice if you attack someone on a land space they control... i.e. their province or an island space where they have a colony. So if you attacked Green's ships in an island space where Green had a colony, then you subtract a die.

I made a player aid which may help:
Seafall double-sided player aids (through Box 5)

This one could also be good:
Raid Aid - Game 3 after prologue

There are several others in the file section, so hopefully you can find one with a format you like.

I have the D&D stuff but am not too familiar with the later wave.
I'd love to play just pure Scape, but I'd get Cyprien.

The rules say nothing about what happens if a plague appears in a city with a supply station. Does that mean nothing happens to it?
