Actually, this was an Indy Boardgamers day, so in keeping with the way things have been going lately, we started with
Pandemic Legacy.
Things are getting a little scary for our medical team.

And by this point, there's been a certain amount of infighting, too.

But I have every confidence that we will prevail!! :D
We had two games of Pandemic Legacy, one win in, uh, May? I think? But a loss the next month. Christy had to leave, so Anna joined Brian, Dave, and myself for some more of my quest to complete the
Brettspiel Adventskalender 2015 games, and we played everyone's first game of
Orléans.

See those red cubes at the top of those three tracks? That was me :) I came in second though, just couldn't keep up with Brian's brocade farming. I liked this and want to play it a few more times. It might be a keeper - I like it better than Hyperborea, which I like a good bit. But it's a bit point salad-y - or at least it seems that way. I'm hoping more will reveal itself in time, because I WANT to like it, I like the bag building mechanic. But on first play it does seem a bit too scattered to be a long term keeper.

I did buy the Christmas market - that was part of the reason why I went heavy on the boatmen, to give myself lots of opportunity to use that. (And the citizen tile at the top :) ). I like the roll and get a goody sort of cards in any game :) Two boatmen seems like a lot to activate it, though. We did have a question about the one 6 I rolled, though, there was some question about whether it was for any movement or just movement on a road. We ruled it was any movement since the rules just said 'move' without any restrictions, but since the picture on the tile didn't show water, there was some doubt.
Dave also very kindly consented to play
Cacao with me.

I had never played it before, and probably won't again - it's a fairly standard tile laying game, which isn't really my favorite genre. The expansion added two tiles that changed the values from the normal ones slightly, so not really a very big change. But Dave's wife really likes Cacao, so I'm glad to have found a good home for the tiles :)
Finally, last night, Darren and I played a two player game of
The Castles of Burgundy. The Advent calendar promo is a set of cloisters that go in the center market with the black backed tiles. You put one out each round. They can go in any spot on your board, and have no power, except they help you complete a section and boost that section's score when completed. If you have a 5 tiles section with one cloister, you score it as a 6 tile section. If you have two cloisters in it, it scores as a 7 tile section, and so on, but it doesn't go above 8.
I thought I had the game wrapped up when I build this in the first round -

Yup, that's a five tile section with a cloister in it, so it scored 31 points, giving me a ridiculously huge lead. Until Darren built these -

Yup, he now had three of the five cloisters and was running neck and neck with me on the score. I had to do some fancy maneuvering to make sure he could not take first player away from me for the final round, as I REALLY needed to make sure I got that last cloister! :) In the end the score was 170 for me and 160 for Darren, and if he had been able to get just one more action we would have had to go to tiebreaker to decide it. We both really liked the cloisters and will probably add them from now on.
More Advent calendar gaming coming soon!
