I got the Legacy and played the Original,
The original comes with lots of stuff if you add the Widows Walk, the Legacy part of the game dives you in a lot in the game while you discover more and more and end up with a customized Betrayal for you which does not lose any replayability as the original do, you do lose 13 hunts, but you still have lots of hunts to play later on.
You can buy the expansion pack that gives more characters from the original pack, you can use them still, I plan to buy them.
I am even checking how to "Incorporate" widows walk into legacy (requires some printing and sticky good quality paper to do so) but has to be carefully done not to ruin the base game, cause I feel it did "fixed" some of the things the original game was failing on.
Overall I would say don;t be afraid to jump into it, the legacy part is just a step and deep into the story of the game, at the end you can still play on an on like the original.
