[o]We played 2-player games. We played 14 games (wins Jan-Oct, and then loss/win in Nov and Dec.We played Hope Dimmick, our Labourer (home in Shrimp Racks, our South Atlantic haven), in all but one game, for a total of 13. She had Courier, Architect, and Record Keeper; she was clearly focused on building supply centers, but got courier because courier was really good and our other main character didn't need any help getting to hotspots.
We played John Peters (you know, the Farmer, also home in Shrimp Racks) in 10 games. He had Runner, Outrider, and Investigator abilities. Runner+Farmer was great early to keep places supplied; then Outrider was pretty awesome for completing the Plan, and Investigator helped with that.
In 3 games we played with Mal R. our captain with her home in Emerald, our Pacific haven. She had Helmsman and Lookout. Lookout combined with Captain was ridiculously good for going around, connecting cities and immediately doing searches. With four actions, one free drive/ferry, the ability to discard a card to go from a port to any other port, plus picking up cards with lookout, turns with Mal lasted forever.
In one game we played Sam E. Ties, our sanitation worker. The second game in December. Because he could pick up cards from the discard. Made the trek from Lake Baikal to JBurg pretty easy.
