My wife and I have been talking about this extensively. I'm a teacher as well as a father of a Kindergartner. I realized that the most disturbing part of this is the location. If 20 children died in a bus wreck, it would be sad, but would it be worldwide news? Sadly, probably not. No, we expect a school, especially an elementary school, to be 'safe'. As one FBI agent said, no public building is 100% safe. As more information becomes available, it seems that the teachers and staff did as well as could be expected in such a random encounter. I'm just thankful that the guy didn't decide to walk through the school. Instead, he stayed in two rooms. That probably saved the lives of many. All in all, it's a very tragic incident. I grieve for those who lost someone in the shooting.
