That was one idea that had been tossed around. It helps with the day/night thing since this way you never have the day/night border going through a territory. BUT, I suppose it would look nicer if the territories weren't just a bunch of circles.Hunh... I like your idea of color coding regular borders. :D Maybe a hybrid approach? Something kinda like Australia perhaps? Each continent has an amorphous border, each territory is a peice of the inside with posibly jagged edges seperating it? We need something to make continents visually distinct.
I was going to have to completely redraw it anyways, I might just make the new one so that most, if not all, continents are entirely inside one zone.
Good catch on territory/ continent number.... I was kinda wondering about that when I was drawing the colored borders. Yeah, I'll have to reduce it. Maybe to 8 continents with an average of 5-6 territories each? 8 * 5.5 = 44 Does that sound a bit low? It is a small planet, I guess. The current Mercury has 14 continents, and it comes out to around 5.56 territories per continent... but yeah 14 continents was a bit much.
I wasn't sure about the naval commander idea myself. Maybe require the player to pay energy? The -1 to dice idea is good too. :D Or both? This is something that you wouldn't want to do often. It needs to have a high enough downside that you'd have a reason to stop and ask yourself "Do I really want to do this?".
I was planning to add such a feature, it just didn't make it into the rough draft.
Thanks for the feedback! :D
