If that's too much to read here's the executive summary on why you should buy second edition:
Warped tile issues from second edition are now resolved. You shouldn't see this problem with retail copies now. There is a replacement program in place for existing owners.
You really need the official FAQ, revised tome pdfs, and some user posts to fix first edition.
Second edition uses generic monster tokens so there's no more searching for black and white circles labeled "bat" and "rat" anymore.
