I still love play Heroscape everytime I can. One of the aspects that I like Heroscape are the different and (often) beautiful minis. Another is the "epic" feel, every afternoon of Heroscpe gaming is a long and fun battle with epic proportions.

So, I decided to choose another games to continue this "collection effect". I tried Heroclix, but it did not click with me (sorry, bad pun). As I also like Scifi a lot, I bought Star Trek Fleet Captains and Star Wars: X-Wing. The former satiated the epic aspect while the later brings wonderful (but somewhat fragile) minis and good gameplay. I am really happy with both of them.

Of course, neither of these games (or others that I tried) was able to replace Heroscape, so I continue buying Heroscape boosters, any time i found them. If you really want Heroscape, save money for a few months and them buy some big Heroscape collection in eBay. For the last 2 years, at least once or twice a month, someone sells their entire collection with lots of terrain and minis for reasonable prices.

I was SO hoping that Battleship Galaxies was going to take off as it was truly Heroscape in space. Created by the same designer and using many fo the same mechanics as Heroscape, I almost cried when Hasbro canned the project, leaving the base game as the only product released. This was a real tragedy. The game was cheaper to produce as it used a standard gameboard, and expansions for the game system would have sold well.
