End of February spoilers:
[o]One possibility is that discarding to hand limit has higher immediacy than the Rivals ability, so you keep discarding until you reach the hand limit and only then can your Rival react to any of the discards.

Another is that when you're discarding down to hand limit, your Rival may take the card but when they then discard you can't use your Rival ability because you're stuck in the middle of doing something else.

A third, which I strongly disfavour is that Rivals doesn't work on discarding down to hand limit. That would get rid of the wrinkles, but doesn't seem to be at all how the rules expect us to play.

We've established that the player can't find a Cure between drawing cards and playing/discarding down to hand size. But can other players do stuff?

For example, if I draw two cards and need to discard, can my Rival play an event before I discard, so I can discard to retrieve it before having to discard to hand limit? Could another player play New Assignment to switch me for a character with a higher hand limit so I didn't have to discard?[/o]

End of Feb:
[o]We have the same questions for Rivals. But we interpreted it as any time the Rival has to discard includes due to hand limit and it also includes when that happens and it's not the discarding players turn.

Sure very liberal interpretation, but it's a co-op and our game, so we went with it.
