I think the best way to deal with start zones is not to make them the best place to be. I never make them the high ground or an easy place to defend if I can help it. Gets people moving towards more middle-of-the-map points of advantage, like a hilltop/tower, good ruin/tree cover, glyphs, special terrain that benefits their unit powers, etc. If one player's start zone is a great place to turtle up, they will tend to do so, creating a situation that could turn things into a bit of a slog for the other player.↧
