This may seem like a strange question, but why are heroscape figures divided into factions with specific faction symbols printed on the cards? Does the faction aspect of the game actually serve a purpose beyond aesthetics?
As an aside, I wonder if the days of inflated pricing on Heroscape stuff are coming to an end. I've been checking eBay and Kijiji, and it seems like the market is getting flooded, particularly with the master sets. I recently picked up some sweet heroscape gear at excellent prices (e.g. well below MSRP), mainly from parents who bought a pile of heroscape swag back in the mid 2000s, but their kids are now going off to university and aren't interested anymore (haha, I finished university 5 years ago, and am still into these things . . . what does that say about me ?) :) Just today for $80, I snagged:
1 x Rise of Valkyrie
1 x Swarm of Marro
1 x Road to Forgotten Forest
1 x Ticalla Jungle
1 x Castle Expansion
1 x Orn's Return
1 x Raknar's Vision
And probably some other stuff that I haven't sorted yet at the bottom of the storage bin.
Also, for people still in the know, how is the tournament/Convention scene doing? Is Heroscape fading out, or are there still a large number of dedicated fans despite the lack of new figures being produced?
