Note that you use the dice and effects from every stage card, but you only use the “when revealed” text from the newly revealed card. Do not reapply earlier “when revealed” text.
From a thematic standpoint, the Elder One being easily dispatched could be explained by the fact that it’s only a projection and having broken the ritual makes the projection relatively weak. I think it’s fine conceptually.
This game isn’t actually very hard once you start learning what works well. It’s still fun imo, but I often try to warn people that it’s not highly repayable. For my tastes, I don’t want to replay any scenario (episode) that I’ve played within the last few months. The only modicum of challenge is working out the best approach to a scenario, so if I remember the scenario well the game feels rote.
I still think the game is very good, but if one wants a game to play intensively over and over, I don’t think this is a great choice.
Victor Organa mentioned Spirit Island, and while that’s not the most constructive answer when seeking help with this game, I agree it’s a more challenging and replayable option. There’s a reason I rate CDMD an 8 and Spirit Island a 10. Both are fun, but CDMD loses points for being less challenging and less replayable.
