Summary of items:* Get Item (Location Action): Draw a number of items equal to value, take one, & Discard the rest: shuffle them back into the deck
- ITEM LIMIT: You can only have 2. If ever more than 2, Discard the ones you don't want
- TRADING/USAGE: You cannot trade for items and can only use the ones in your possession (items that give a bonus to the same action stack)
So, no, you don't discard the item when using it for an action. Only the action card it is used with would be discarded. (P.7 of the English rules)
You can use items any time you do the action that they give a bonus to.
