Hmm. The main thing with making armies for new players is giving them simple order marker management. My favorite multiplayer format - my favorite format of all, really - works like this:
You get points for all the damage you do. Kill one Knight of Weston, get 70/4 or 17 points. Put a wound on Kaemon Awa, get 120/4 or 30 points. Keep track of your damage as you do it and the player who does the most is the winner.
It's much simpler than it sounds and it creates an incentive for the players to attack and defend on all sides all game long. No turtling, which gets punished severely in this format.
