Does the extra movement cost also apply when leaving the traitors space? The rule book said that small monsters are considered small obstacles but I couldn’t find a reference to the traitor or non- traitors (depending on what side your playing) counting as obstacles. I believe original Betrayal had that as s rule.

Thanks. I was sure that was in there but couldn’t find it last night.

I always saw the scars as being indicative of the trauma of being in places that are stricken with plague and infestation, not a direct effect. Most of them are psychological states.

Thread: Betrayal Legacy:: Rules:: Rule clarification(Spoilers): Shoggoth scenario / Traitor death through item removal

We were playing the Shoggoth scenario last night. After the traitor revealed, another player used a skill allowing him to steal any item from any player. He chose the traitor's book, which adds one to his sanity and knowledge as long as he carries it. As his sanity was already on critical, am I correct to assume, removing the book kills him?

Second question: The scenario allows the traitor to place tentacles on adjacent tiles. Does that mean it must follow room adjacency rules, where he needs a door to place in the next tile? We won easily, since the traitor believed he needed to have a door and there was no door, as well as the fact that he couldn't place a tentacle in the same room as the mouth.

Week In Review: Feb 17-Feb 23

Another week in the books! We managed to get quite a few games in this week, so that was very nice! Nothing really of interest to report, so let's jump right in!

SUNDAY
:arrowE: Plague Inc.: The Board Game(Part of my 10x10 Challenge)

MONDAY
:arrowE: Stone Age

TUESDAY
:arrowE: Betrayal Legacy(Part of my 10x10 Challenge)
:arrowE: Sushi Go Party!

WEDNESDAY
:arrowE: Dinosaur Island(Including Dinosaur Island: Totally Liquid)
:arrowE: Tobago(Part of my 10x10 Challenge)

THURSDAY
 A day without games!

FRIDAY
:arrowE: Caverna: The Cave Farmersx3

SATURDAY
:arrowE: Mansions of Madness: Second Edition
:arrowE: Caverna: The Cave Farmers

We've not been playing Plague Inc.: The Board Game with the Plague Inc: Patient Zero Pack up to this point for some reason, so I think I need to toss that in. I'm still really enjoying this game, but I do feel as if there is something missing from it, but I can't quite put my finger on what. Every time I finish I game I find myself thinking "That was fun, but it needs something else to make it even better." If I figure out what that is I will let you know, but for now, the Deez Nutz disease will continue to try to eradicate the entire planet.

Then we have Stone Age, with OMFG It's Vico still trying to beat me. After that first defeat in the previous week, he wants his revenge. :D

If there's one thing I love in games with a traitor mechanic, it is being the traitor myself. I think I'm in the minority, but I just love being separated out from the group to work out devious plans of sabotage . Well, during this week's Betrayal Legacy, I was finally the traitor. Unfortunately, it seemed like the worst possible scenario to be the traitor on. Without spoiling much, I was essentially completely useless, and that was lame. It was still fun watching everyone else in the group sweat as they tried to figure out what sorts of nefarious deeds I had planned though! Maybe next time I will be the traitor and actually get to be more evil!

Somehow all of my friends had thought that I had played Sushi Go Party! before, despite me never having touched it. So, as we waited for the Betrayal Legacy group to arrive, we gave it a spin. I liked it! I don't think it's as good as people make it out to be, but it was certainly enjoyable and cute! Definitely a great filler party game!

Dinosaur Island and Dinosaur Island: Totally Liquid are still just... so much fun. Good lord I love these games so much. I don't know what it is, but I can't help but be super happy whenever I get to play them. Maybe it's the bright colors and nostalgic theme, maybe it's just how playful and fun everything is, who knows, but I don't think I would ever turn a down any offer to play these games!

Tobago was a lot of fun this week. Not a whole lot to report with it, apart from us managing to get what has to be our longest treasure map so far in the game.

A game that I really love, but hate getting out to play, is Caverna: The Cave Farmers. That's why we played it so many times at once, because we wanted to keep playing, but not have to put it up and bring it back out again. My God, there are so many little baggies. I have to get some kind of insert for this game or I am going to lose my mind. Apart from that though, my little cave dwarfs were very happy, and made so many babies while cuddling with sheep. I don't really know how that works, but who am I to judge!

Finally this week, we have Mansions of Madness: Second Edition. I have the first edition of the game, but my friend Arito has the second edition and has been wanting us to play it for a while. He loves the game, but he has also been wanting to convince me that not all board games that use an app are trash. While I have to agree that this was about the best app integration into a board game that I have seen, I still firmly stand behind my belief that board games should not use apps or websites (or, at the very least, not require them, so Mansions of Madness: Second Edition definitely got that part right). I don't know, I just like keeping board games analog. I'm the same way with RPGs. Yeah, I can get all of the books on PDF, but there is something very pleasing about being at a table with a stack of books, paper, and pencils. Maybe I'm just weird, who knows.

Well, that's going to do it for this week! I am going to try to start integrating pictures into these posts, because I feel like that will break up the walls of text a bit and make them more interesting to read. We'll see how it goes!

Until next time!

Just to clarify, are you suggesting to remove the Knowledge Roll mechanic entirely, or to just make turning require an extra movement, instead of a limit of 2?

I was suggesting heroes could spend a movement point to make a knowledge roll. That way they are limited by their movement points instead of adding an additional resource to track.

However it might be faster and simpler to just use 1 movement point per facing change.

Thematically, if you want to simulate stumbling around blindly, you could roll every step, but that amount of rolling would really slow down the game. I’m not coming up with anything that’s fast that could simulate that, except maybe tossing a die/token onto the map, and your hero moves that way.

[o]Moving the scourge lice (particularly when there were a lot of them) was really slow - having to roll to move 17 (in one turn) of them was very slow. Would definitely recommend a second edition just give them a static movement value, if it's expected to be having that many out at the one time.

We were putting them back in after they got squashed, so that may have made a difference? It would have been too easy to finish them all off otherwise, though.

Was slightly confusing - they don't make might attacks, but do defend with might is what we came up with?

Also, due to unfortunate dead ends, there were several locations we couldn't get to to get bits.

It was definitely fun, but that rolling really, really slowed it down.[/o]

Anyone looking to sell their Seafall coins? The plaid hat store is out of stock and I really like the coins over Scythe or other coins. Thanks

[o]Monsters don't roll individually to move- you roll once for all monsters of a type.

And yes, monsters defend with whatever stat you attack with, so that'd be Might if defending against an unarmed attack.[/o]

Pretty sure you roll once for the monster type that turn, not for each monster.

Got it...

I do like the idea of throwing tokens on the board, but maybe I’ll use that for a future haunt. :)

I believe the Treasure Trove expansion was a kickstarter only thing. Some retailers which also backed the game were able to offer it separately or bundled with the base game though.

Thread: Pandemic Legacy: Season 1:: Rules:: Rules Clarification for Upgrades (June Spoilers)

So - the Equip action rule for the rulebook states:

"Add a military equipment sticker to a card in your hand if you are at a military base, or add a medical equipment sticker to a card in your hand if you are a research station. Each City card can only have one sticker"

So.. we know from the last line that each city card can only have one sticker - but that doesn't mean that stickers can only be on city cards, as the rules are written. The rules as written say "..to a card in your hand"

My thinking is this:

When you have funding, but "One Quiet Night" (funded event) in the deck. When it comes into your hand, put an equipment sticker on it, then play it. Then the soldier picks it up on their turn, and you play it again. You get One Quiet Night for every round. And whatever funded events you put in the deck.

But it feels like cheating. Is there a rules clarification somewhere that says that equipment stickers can only go on city cards?

The Equip action sticker that goes on the available actions card does specify city cards. It does seem like a minor oversight on the rule itself, I'm surprised I haven't seen it called out before.

The most obvious way to know that it was not intended to put stickers on event cards is that events don't have the little outline for the stickers!

The Yellow Meeple's First Impressions:- 15th - 24th February 2019

For my 30th birthday, Amy took me on a tour of the board game cafes around London. We visited Warboar, D20, Proceed Clockwise, The Library Pot and Cakes and Ladders, hitting my personal target of playing 30 unique games,! Almost all of the games were new to us, so I've chosen just a few of our favourites to feature here, as well as cheating and including some thoughts on the campaign of Aeon's End Legacy that we're currently playing.

So here the Yellow Meeple's first impressions!

even if it were allowed, I wouldn't recommend it since if you are playing well, you may go long stretches without funding and thus would be out an equipment card for those games
