We just finished the game. We won the second game in December.

Thanks for the review. Agreed with a lot you said. The middle months we’re a bit of rinse and repeat, but we really enjoyed them. The end however was a disappointment and to us. We understood what we had to do, but weren’t interested in doing it. The end game win condition was a boring painful slow slog. The game should end on a high note, but it didn’t. These aren’t sour grapes. We won.

December wasn’t fun. It wasn’t designed to be fun. I’d be interested to hear someone argue that December was fun for them.

Sure I can see how it was not "fun", not sure self-sacrifice ever could be right? In the end Pandemic Legacy S1 & 2 are about the story and I thought the story was pretty good (for a board game), we did not see the twist about us being Faded coming at all (even though there were so many hints).

So in short, did I think December was fun, nope I guess not. It was tense, exciting & sad though, and it was very satisfying playing it! Pretty sure all stories don't need to be fun.

We very rarely had them () but when we did, Airlift and Forecast are probably our two most useful. Airlift gets people where they need to be efficiently, and Forecast lets you plan where the infections are coming, which combos well with certain characters to drastically reduce incoming infections.

And unlike normal Pandemic (where I like it a lot, it can save a huge amount of actions and cards), Government Grant is a lot less valuable, given that you can potentially make it possible to cure all the diseases without needing Research Stations, so they mostly only become valuable for freer movement across the board. And permanent stations make it a lot less valuable too, because you don't need it to make crossing the board easier in the early rounds.

is it possible To spend more than 1 ressource To buy a tresor or a building ect...?
The rules says sometimes "exactly one resource" or "may spent one resource " but doesn't precise which number.
Thanks for your help

You cannot use more than one resource to discount a treasure or other purchase.

577. Not bad for someone who played it solo, and much better than my Season 1 score!

If you want to play November until you win just for accomplishment/story sake, there's an easy way to do it without upsetting the balance...

Spoilers for November

[o]1. Don't use any abilities that destroy/change a card or mark up the board. (No searches, no new connections, etc.)

2. Play as if you were at your maximum inoculations... which means you can only inoculate an infection card if another one is pulled back from package six during an epidemic, and you can only inoculate a player card if you use an ability that pulls one out of the box.

3. Only spend production units to increase the population of cities that are reduced during THAT game (and obviously don't spend more points than you earned that game).

4. Don't increase your rationing level before the game, and when you do finally win, make sure you lower it. So if you were at level 4 going into your second game in November (and would have been at 6 going into December after another loss), you should instead go into December with a 2.[/o]

Thanks for your quick reply And advise.
I have noticed that on some forums it is suggested To use more than à single resource because it makes sense with the rules " don't cost less than zero"
I suppose that this position of only one resource is an official one adopted by the authors and the Seafall community?
Sorry To insiste, but i have started this wonderfull game with friends and we want To play it correctly!
Thanks for your understanding and your real support.

How about laminated scoring cards for use with dry erase markers (Captain Sonar style). Not a huge expense but a finite amount of score pads scare away some gamers.

I wonder if December didn't get the playtesting that the rest of the got?

But the, like I say, Leacock just isn't good at finales. Solid games that don't have the grand finish.

[o]Recently came across the ruined haven by Australia. Just wondering if you can use a shuttle flight action to get there. My instincts say no, but I can't think of any reason why we couldn't according to the rules. We haven't used this action for the other two havens that provide end up providing game-to-game supplies, but I can't recall if we had access to the shuttle flight action at that time or not.

Thanks in advance![/o]

As far as my group go, we always stuck with only one ressource for a discount. I'm not the biggest fan of some of the design decisions, but this one makes sense to me. If you allow players to discount as much as they want, then that makes selling much less useful. I sell my goods to be able to transform my cubes into money efficiently, but it's less useful if I can get an 8-value for each cube when I buy something. (Of course, you still need money if you discount something to less than 8, but it sounds minor in the long run.)

In the end, I'm not sure what is most popular within the community, but discount with a single cube at a time is the official ruling.

I believe that will work as long as it is connected to the grid.

In our first play of July we found the virologist and reveal the content of the card. But we have lost the game, we must anyway destroy the objective card that say to found the virologist?
I'm not sure about the terminology because I play the italian version of the game.

Correct, you destroy that objective and it isn't available for your second game of the month.

Yes, that is correct, you have already found the virologist so you cannot/don't have to worry about finding her again.

The "don't cost less than zero" that you are referring to is not to suggest the use of multiple resource cubes, but rather to address the situation if you possess an advisor that also lowers the cost of a treasure, upgrade or building. For instance, I want to build a "brown" structure for 10 gold using a wood resource cube with an advisor having a build -6 gold advantage.

Really? I would think that once you know where everything is, the game would be pretty easy. Go straight for the havens & labs; wait until July to recon the middle east; avoid connecting unnecessary cities (or connect them late in the campaign purely for score); etc.

I think there were a lot of alternate routes and strategies that would be worth exploring. I wouldn't *buy* another copy, but would gladly play someone else's :)
