Thread: Pandemic Legacy: Season 2:: Rules:: HELP! Jan/Feb/March Objectives *SPOILERS*
by Dirkalicious
My friends and I did 2 plays of January a few months ago, and have finally decided to commit to finishing it. However, when i opened the box this evening, i only had 1 objective card available.[o]build 3 research stations[/o]
This is how our previous 2 games of January went and what i did tonight:
[o]Play 1 : Reconned North America then failed
Play 2 : Built the stations and built a few supply lines
Tonight: Looked on BGG for non-spoiler type threads and it appeared the 2 objectives for Feb were supposed to be supply lines and research stations so we completed that and moved on to March. March now has 3 objectives: Research Stations/Find new Haven/Search 2 cards.
However, a thread i read mentioned a mandatory "recon South America" objective, so is that something I'm missing? and was the build supply lines objective a one and done objective?
[/o]
We're going to play the 2nd half of March next Friday, and I'd really like to have the proper objectives in play at the top of the board. Any clarification or pictures of the cards would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot guys!

Beginning of February:[o]There is no mandatory "Recon South America" objective. Instead, there is an optional "Recon any Region" objective that appears as you are reading the Legacy deck for the first game in February. The flavor text strongly urges you to recon South America, but it is not technically a requirement. In February you should have three available objectives:
1. Build 3 Supply Centers (Mandatory)
2. Connect 2 new cities to the grid
3. Recon a new Region
Note that in February you only need to complete two objectives, so build 3 centers and then either connect two cities OR recon.
[/o]
Beginning of March:
[o]You should have two more objectives, for a total of five choices (of which you need to complete build 3 supply centers and at least two others):
4. Access a Lost Haven
5. Complete two searches
Of these five objectives ONLY Access a Lost Haven is destroyed when completed. The other four remain in play until if and when you are told otherwise.

Reply: Betrayal at House on the Hill:: Rules:: Re: Rules help
by TedW
Just to add to the other poster's comments.....Most boardgames have a very "tight" ruleset in that almost all the situations you run across in a game are covered by the rules.
Betrayal is VERY different in that respect. The rules do a good job of explaining the basics (particularly the first half of the game). However, you will run into some very ambiguous situations once a particular haunt is played on the house you laid out with the characters in the specific position in your game. Most games don't have that much variation they have to deal with.
The key to playing Betrayal is to realize that you will run into ambiguous situations not covered by the rules. That is 100% normal for this game. Don't get too bothered by it. Make an interpretation that makes the most common sense and go. Also realize that some games will be very biased either for or against the players. Pretend you are creating an epic story and not so much playing a competitive game....

I couldn't do comparison images as I returned the fake before I had the original, but ALL of these images reflect exactly my experience.
The only difference being that I had the blue version (although the box finish differences were identical to yours).

The Nuclear Option can give you a bonus Fallen city. Creative use of roadblocks can also allow panic to increase without advancing the Outbreak marker, so you can theoretically end with an entirely Fallen board.
It's probably worse to end up with 10 Lost characters and one that was never found - I don't have my copy to check, but my recollection is that you have to complete the relevant Search before you can play the Virologist (Team Bravo will unlock the Immunologist if you don't).
You may have several months where you can't actually make any upgrades - until you unlock Equipment, Unfunded Events are the only upgrade that's guaranteed to be available (character upgrades usually are, but not if you've Lost every character that started the previous game).

Good point, although this definitely begins to get into playing poorly intentionally although even my example is pretty much impossible unless you're completely negligent (and 'lucky' in that each outbreak must be unique).
The game gives you 15 permanent roadblocks and 19 roadblock tokens, but there are nearly 90 connection lines on the board. Still have ing a third of the world fallen and roadblocked, even if you had the right cards and a full hand you could only drive/ferry twice before running out of cards. You could burn through the player deck (48 cities and 10 funding) in fewer than 20 drive/ferry actions.
There are definitely ways to minimize or really neutralize upgrades as well as by choosing certain upgrades or using certain upgrades on certain characters. Or hell, giving upgrades to a character that you lose or just don't ever use again.
Doesn't sound like anything I want to experience.

We put a military base right next to City Zero, and paid special attention to not letting City Zero panic. That made the search for Patient Zero tolerable for us.

I meant it was fortunate for us because of the +1 search bonus that it gives for the search. Plus at that point we knew we would be destroying it anyway.

Hi, Andrew. The vast majority of people haven’t had any issues with the app. We just recently ran into some bugs, but these are related to improvements we are making by adding features to it (and as best we can tell only on Pixel devices). And we’re working diligently to get them sorted out.

When you reveal a searched card if it has an effect is it a one time effect?Like finding a long lost supply cache, do you get to do that each time you get that card?

One time. The only searches that have ongoing effects are the companions.↧
