Would you want to play a video game, say a role-playing game, that somehow permanently saved every choice you made, never to let you play the game differently in the future? What about an online shooter with truly permanent death. As in, if you die your account is deactivated and you're permanently banned from ever playing again.
Video games where you only get one chance? Just the one life?
Hmmm...
Minecraft came instantly to mind. It's called Hardcore mode. You get one life, the game is locked on the hardest difficulty setting, and if you die your save is deleted. There's no way to stop it from happening without hacking the game.
PEOPLE LOVE THAT MODE.
And, like this board game, it is not for everyone. People who want to hack Minecraft to play Hardcore without the penalties are the same folks who want to make this board game have an undo button.
And both of those groups completely miss the point.
If you're seriously this bent out of shape about a game that causes you to customize towards how you and your friends played it as you go in a permanent way, go play something else.
EDIT: Here's a nice Wikipedia article about video games that featured permanent death.
