My first thoughts too after watching the video is I'm probably going to try to make a large foamcore insert to keep stuff organized under the bottom layer. Seems like that's safest place to store things without throwing it on top of the board pieces.

Greg Spence of The Broken Token did a Ask-Me-Anything thread on Reddit today and was asked what is coming soon from them. his reply:
"We have some pretty cool stuff coming out soon. Founders of Gloomhaven, Spirit Island, Fireball Island (all the islands, apparently), Arkham Horror, and even more."
So they probably got a cool idea on how to store it! :)
