Opening that pack can be a problem, but I came up with a crazy way to do it in our last game. I did it by only having one continent(South America) which I had named in a previous game.South America is unique in our game because their are 3 minor cities there, and 1 major city so only I can start there, plus North Africa is the (3 missile pack spoiler) [o]fallout zone[/o] so nobody can start there even if they place before me.
What I did was (spoilers from everything except DNOE and World Cap) [o]Start the game as the Bringer of Fire since I already had the most missiles starting out in my group with 3 there was no way anyone was going to give me two more with the mutants and this pretty much insured me that I'd never have to worry about someone invading through the fallout zone. I also picked up the two coin cards during the draft. The bringer of fire faction also has the comeback power resourceful, and I was surrounded by minor cities. Plus they have the missile power Rally which means at the start of any of my turns I could cash in a missile for 2 troops. So what I did was take my time and every round I only took one city. This made me seem like a very small threat since I didn't even have a whole continent for the first 3 rounds of the game. I also got lucky and got a resource card that had 3 coins on it thanks to homeland advantage. Once I had 8 coins on 4 cards, I cashed them in for 21 troops, then I cashed in 2 missiles for 4 more troops, and then finally I got 3 troops for my territories and 3 for my continent bonus giving me 31 troops and I still had one missile left. It was pretty crazy and everything just worked out perfectly for me to pull it off! [/o]
