My girlfriend and I love Betrayal...probably my third favorite game behind Pandemic (Legacy) and Imperial Assault. So when she had some friends in town to enjoyed board games, it seemed like the perfect time to take this down off the shelf.

Our party consisted of four players: myself (Professor Longfellow), Erica (Jenny LeClerc), Mark (Brandon Jaspers) and Michelle (Zoe Instrom).

The pre-betrayal portion of the game was very pro-hero. We did an excellent job on our rolls so we were all pretty buffed up before the haunt roll failed on the 8th omen card, when the Holy Symbol was found on the Balcony by Mark. And so poor Erica became possessed by the aliens and the rest of us had to get to work.

For this haunt, we needed to perform 4 Might rolls to destroy the ship before the alien captured us all.

The haunt doesn't specify that we had to perform the might rolls in the room with the space ship. It also told us to spread out because the alien can manipulate "all the heroes in a room." It made sense to us, then, that we must be destroying the spaceship around the house. Maybe its fuel lines, or circuits, or maybe various parts of the hull? I don't know, but the way the haunt is written and the rules as presented to the heroes suggested to me that you could do the might rolls anywhere. And since they were not attacks, you could not use weapons.

I went first and succeeded in my might roll with the help of the Perfect Feather. Mark failed. Michelle won. Two mights down already!

Then the alien went. She successfully took over Mark. I went and beat Mark up and snapped him out of it, which of course means he took some damage. I also won my might roll with the help of the Lucky Stone. Three down! Mark repaid me by failing his might roll, as did Michelle. Alien's turn...she takes me over and moves me to the room just outside the spaceship. Mark comes up to try to snap me out of it. He loses the combat roll and the Professor beats the snot out of him. He and Michelle both lose their might rolls. On the alien's turn, she murders Mark, knocking him out of the game. On my turn she moves me into the spaceship room, which means in one round I'll be out of the game. It all comes down the Michelle. Given her health, she had probably two rounds to try the might roll. Pressure is on! And she nails it, rolling exactly a five. So the little girl saves the Professor, who carries the dead little boys body out to the street.

I can't help but being a little bothered by the fact that, while we escaped...dangerous mind-controlling aliens still roam out planet, constantly looking for unsuspecting influential politicians to control...

What's your story?
