Game 3 you however mention that the Australian player had 2 HQs + red star and talk as if that's it? That doesn't add up to 4 victory stars that are required.. Now that I think about it.. Where did the 4th star come from on Game 2? Assuming NA starter got your HQ for 3rd star.
He started with a red star, had his HQ, my friend's HQ and had already collected 3 territory cards from the couple of turns of trading one province before wiping the other guy out completely. So one more battle won and he'd win.
I suppose you're all right about this - I had just hoped that my new £40 game would get some real effort put in. I should point out that the guy who tried to steamroll Australia is a complete fool who doesn't care and was just doing it 'for a laugh'. There were no real tactics in play.
