Thanks for the insight, Justin!
I had just been curious because every now and then in recent years, Hasbro gets the random notion to reprint and re-release one of their older games. This past year, they re-released Crossfire as a Toys r' Us exclusive and they licensed out Clue: Master Detective to Winning Moves as a Barnes & Noble exclusive. And just last night at Walmart, I saw that they've dusted off Payday for a reprint.
I had just wondered if Fireball Island was ever on their radar for similar treatment.

I don't want to speak to Hasbro's mindset. But I can tell you that there were some initial thoughts about making the game much smaller so it was cheaper and fit in a regular sized box. Of course, we thought that was precisely the wrong way to go.
