i just plaued this one and yeah, it was the most frustrating thing. I don’t think anyone at the table fully understood it. we ended up having both the betrayer rules and the player rules open for everyone to see, since the betrayer just kept changing anyway.

I was confused how to get the items, i was confused as to what a “bequest” was.

all i understood is when i was betrayer, try to kill the others, but they had all these items that basically let them get all over the house and avoid me, even though i had 8 speed, they always managed to stay away from me and kept getting more and more items, and then the spirit possessed someone else, and the new betrayer did his best to stay away from everyone, stalling for time because there was a thing on the betrayer sheet that he would keep gaining stats the longer he stalled,

then the new betrayer had like...maxed out stats and started coming after us, but then someome else became the betrayer and started stalling

and the we were just like...”eff this”...and called it...and someone flipped the table...(not really, it was on pc, it was a virtual table, lol)

one thing to clarify though, one thing i did understand was that the changed betrayer is not automatic, there was a die roll to determine it.
