That's a cool detail I completely missed.
One problem with two of the labs is that you have to have pull the card to Recon and be in a situation where you can get to the city. As soon as Johannesburg was revealed, I thought one blue city in the middle of yellow seemed important enough to search. But, it took months before we had the opportunity.
At the end of the game we had about 8 cities that hadn't been searched. It could've easily been either of the lab cities.
If you have someone with the ability to get cards out of the discard, then you can search a city the same game you connect it to the grid, avoiding the need to rely on luck of the draw.
