The danger now, I am afraid, is overconfidence. This easy road for the past few months could all be some duplicity, some plan by the Hollow Men to get our guard down. We'll have to endeavour to remain vigilant even in the face of our joyous victories.

And there are many of them. We've made contact with Topaz, on an island without plague. Without plague! Deciding they'd like to keep it that way, they quarantined us and sent us on our way, but not before one brave soul, Victor Rogers, decided to lend us a hand. He's an expert in vector control - so we should be able to minimize the impact of the plague rats the Hollow Men release. We've made headway into Asia, building a sturdy supply center in Hong Kong to bolster our attempt at reaching Utopia once we have a plan. The Hollow Men did penetrate a few cities, but we were largely able to shelter the inhabitants against the worst of it. I will write more once we have a plan to face our former leaders.

Well, the initial board state didn't do us a ton of favors:

We had planned to do the recon out of [o]Jakarta[/o] by using Joe Dirt to grab Hong Kong and then passing it off to W0FU. The Hollow Men made sure that our plans changed.

Luckily, the player deck was a lot more kind to us, giving us two red cards (one with Infrastructure on it) and a black card - so we had what we needed to do our plan, it was all just a matter of getting there. We shuffle cards around, and burn two Monitor uses (although we do breeze past a back-to-back epidemic draw, so that was helpful).

We eventually do the recon:

...only to discover an empty haven and another recon (not pictured below, but the same 2 red cards as the one in Jakarta. We go through another few turns and get W0FU the card he needs, and then we reveal...

Topaz!

The text on the recon card sent us off into a gale of laughter that lasted for a long time. It's nice to know that there's one completely safe city in the world (Wellington came with no cards for it whatsoever).

Additionally, one of the crew of Topaz decided to join us. Meet Victor!

After all of that excitement, we basically stalled until we could build supply centers.

At the end of the game, we make the center in Hong Kong permanent, raise Chicago's population (after a run-in with Hollow Men), and throw Investigator on Pretty Boy, allowing him to recycle useful cards. We're all still waiting for the shoe to drop, but it hasn't yet, and we continue to rack up victories.

Our plan is the dumbest plan, but unfortunately, it's also the only viable one we have. More next month, if we survive this lunacy
