I like the additional strategic depth that you have from the command cards and leaders. that's what I didn't like about vanilla is that it had no option besides "conquer territory, get more troops!". meh. Sure there was some strategy, but not a lot. IMO not enough to make the game fun.

"Strategic depth"? Seriously? From cards will largely random effects?

Have you ever actually played the game? Or are you just bashing it because?

Land: Only 1 card (there are 3 total) out of the 20 batch has a random effect.

Space: 2 diffrent cards (4 total) out of the 20 has a random draw.

Diplomat: None out of 20!

Naval: 1 card (5 total) out of the 20 has a random draw.

Nuclear: 3 different cards (7 total) have a random location draw out of 20.

Now admittedly a-lot of the nuclear cards have a dice roll. but... well. The game combat is resolved with dice rolls so if that is a problem for someone then they should walk away now.

All the cards the players have a choice to play or not. None of them force a player to apply them instantly. And yes. There is a-lot of strategy to playing those cards. And some of the cards can engender strategies to try and get them into play just right.
