Not even the thought of having an always-active colony with a 3-value farm is enough to entice them? That's a free glory and 3 gold at the beginning of every game, not to mention the 3-4 points for the milestone and the permanent bonus that comes with every milestone. Their loss if they want to wait for you to do it. You can conquer it sooner than you may think. Here's what I'd try if I were in your spot, and you can definitely do at least this:

For your game start bonus, take 3 gold and the rest reputation tokens. If you already have at least one upgraded field, take all reputation tokens. With your ten gold, buy the Nefarious upgrade on turn 1. Depending on how far behind you are in the campaign, you might have enough reputation to go for it right away. If a raid advisor comes up with at least a 1:1 raid:reputation then buy it. Sail to Patmos and take a shot at conquering it. You'll want to be rolling at least 8 dice (which gives you about a 47% chance of success). If you can hit that, go for it. Bonus if you get the Grizzled Veteran.

If you can't, then do as the others have said and bide your time for one game. Don't spend any fortune or reputation during the game except to buy a killer raid advisor if you don't have the money when it comes up. It will be a low-scoring game, but you'll still be able to do a little bit via exploring and taxing. Spend all of your end game fortune and reputation on crossing off enmity on Patmos. Keep your raid advisor for next game and do the above.
