DESCRIPTION
A long, defensive game, where we got to open the final non-hidden secret. Die Mechaniker went from evil to eviller, as they not only had previousy nuked Africa, but now they also won the game by collaborating with the aliens. Shame on them!
At the beginning there were a struggle for the world capitol between Mattias in Western Europe, Linus in Ontario and Richard far far away in Japan. However, no reinforcements came due to event cards, while Andreas and Jon kept getting stronger.
Thus, it was decided that the quarrel over Dominion on Iceland should stop. Richard retreated to Japan to gather resources and tend to his defences, having lost the HQ to Jon, while Mattias and Linus attacked Andreas, who had grown quite strong, hiring mercenaries into the Imperial army from both North and South America. However, once attacked, Andreas quickly lost terrain. This was partly due to the help of Jon, launching a surprise EMP attack, which took the fortified troops of Andreas by surprise, leaving them in a deep state of chock, unable to defend properly (to Andreas' defence, there were some trouble with a severe case of unlucky dice as well).
In the east, there were an arms race between Richard and Jon, until finally Jon grew tired of that race, cashed in his resources for troops and removed Richard from the board, collecting his resources along with the Mechaniker HQ.
Now there were some indications that either Mattias or Jon could claim the victory, as their resource cards had grewn into an enviable amount. Linus was also a contender for a victor, in case of a scenario were both Jon and Mattias would have failed, leaving the HQ's without proper defences. However, the defences were too strong, the distances between the HQ's too vast, and the defending dice too hot for anyone to succeed with any conquering moves. Mattias traded in the maximum amount of resources, got 30+ troops and.... almost managed to conquer Europe. Well, he did conquer it, but lost it easily the turn after. He did however, later succeed in removing Andreas from the map, for a meagre 2 resources. Andreas popped up in Africa again, but didn't dare to go for the high valued resource cards, as he was afraid to get wiped out again.
Richard, who had redeployed in Asia, and taken back his HQ, had been stacking some defences there and gathered resource cards. He eventuelly got hold of a mean set of cards, mostly due to his homeland and his recon ability. Also, he made agreements with Jon to attack all the Mechaniker territories without any defence neighbouring Linus, stopping the mutant from mind-shackling away the nice resource cards. The bait was the promise of the possibility that we'd get to open the last pocket, since Richard had the only remaining missile for this eventuality. And with a bit of luck, the right amount of resources was traded in, and the truth of the alien collaboration became clear as the Alien Island rose from the sea outside of both Sydney and Mexico at the same time. The Island was packed with troops, conquering the mutant HQ of Ontario, and the HQ of enclave in Eastern Australia without breaking sweat.
