Since we're on the topic, how about some favorites in music? As John Cusack said in High Fidelity, we are defined by the music we hear, the movies we see and the books we read. It's always nice to know what music people like, specially in this time of the year, when you're looking for gifts to the family, and sometimes you run out of ideas.

So, here are mine:

Favorite genre: Classical. I lost count of my collection when I was reaching 2200 CDs of classical.

Favorite singer ever: Dusty Springfield. That lady knew how to sing.

Favorite song: You don't have to say you love me, by Dusty Springfield.

Favorite group ever: The Beatles.

Favorite modern singer: Richard Hawley. If you don't know this fellow, I can't recommend him enough.

Favorite modern group: Keane or Arctic Monkeys.

Favorite hidden gem (song, singer, CD/LP) you'd like everybody to discover: Sail the summer winds, by Lyn Paul.
This song belongs to the OST of the film The Dove(1974), composed by none other than John Barry. It's so lovely, this tune, you'll find yourselves humming the melody for years to come.

Favorite CD/LP: Wagner's Parsifal. Any of the versions directed by Hans Knappertsbusch is a must for Wagner fans, or the Solti version in studio.
