It looks like this haunt was a victim of editing, somewhere along the way after I sent it in.

The way I originally wrote this haunt, there were supposed to be three different sets of tokens at work:

The pentagonal item tokens that represent keys, that got put out in rooms when the scenario got discovered.

a set of red monster tokens, numbered from 1 to the number of players. They're given to players face down, and their sole purpose is to determine who the traitor is.

A SET OF PURPLE MONSTER TOKENS, FACE UP. These are ALSO supposed to be given out to the players. Basically, once your number came up, you had to start rolling to find out if your head exploded.

The editing problem came in when somebody changed the purple tokens to ALSO be pentagonal item tokens. No wonder people were so confused.

Sorry.

Thanks for this clarification. The fact that the designers can come around and assist players with their creation is one of the most amazing aspects of BGG
