I have about 8 players interested and I don't think teams would go over well. I am considering when the winner writes his/her name on the board that they also mark which army they were using.

In a 5-player game, each battle will have between 0 and 14 missiles in play, with no missiles only for the first game.

With 8 players, worst case is that you have no missiles in play for the first 4 games, then have 1 missile in game 5, and then (worst case) going up 1 per game as per the 5-player method. And chances are at any stage you'll have more that (battle number-4) missiles in play.

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about the number of missiles in play. By the last game, you'll have 11 in play at least.

So far as the board goes, we're talking about Major Cities, and Named Continents bonuses. Again, to be honest, I wouldn't worry about them. If the naming player is playing, he gets it - if not, nobody does.

I really don't think the extra hassle of faction-cities, or team drafting, is worth the hassle. Just play with who you have - consider them rising warchiefs, taking centre stage while previous generals enjoy a well-earned week off On The Beach.
